At our Promoting Healthy Families Knowledge Exchange Summit, Meghan Kenny and Dr. Krysta Andrews presented the main findings from Health Equity Impact Assessments (HEIA) and the Community Engagement Study. Key takeaways from their presentation: The HEIA revealed that many of the community organizations serving children and families were experiencing difficulties connecting with racialized and newcomer families. We heard from racialized and newcomer caregivers that barriers to accessing parenting and mental well-being supports included social needs (e.g., school and neighbourhood safety, food security, etc.), language barriers, stigma, racism and limited awareness of service availability. Word of mouth and community centers were the preferred source of parenting and mental well-being information for racialized and newcomer caregivers. Check out the HEIA and Community Engagement infographics using the links below! https://lnkd.in/gxW77zXb https://lnkd.in/gRzU2qEh Stay tuned for more presenter posts to come!

Celebrating World Children’s Day: Building a Healthier Future for Every Child 🌍 Today, on #WorldChildrensDay, we proudly stand with UNICEF to affirm a universal truth: children’s rights are human rights. This year’s theme, “Listen to the Future!”, calls on all of us to amplify children’s voices and take meaningful action to create a world where every child’s dreams, health, and happiness matter. 👶💙 At FH Europe Foundation, we are passionate about ensuring that every child has access to safe, personalised medical care—a critical foundation for a brighter future. For children with rare diseases like #HoFH (Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolaemia) and #FCS (Familial Chylomicronaemia Syndrome), this isn’t just a wish—it’s a lifeline. 💔 Yet, the reality is often far from ideal. Many children, particularly in areas affected by conflict or inadequate healthcare systems, face immense barriers: 🔹 Misdiagnoses due to lack of awareness within medical communities. 🔹 Stigma and misunderstanding from peers and society. 🔹 Limited access to therapies, treatments, and mental health support. Take Marc’s story from #Lebanon: 🔹A critical misdiagnosis endangered his life due to the limited awareness of his rare condition. 🔹 Stigmatisation from school peers caused emotional pain and isolation. 🔹Recent government funding cuts to basic therapies now jeopardize his heart health—and his life. No child should have to face these challenges. Health is a right, not a privilege. ❤️ Let’s unite to change this. Together, we can ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the care, support, and understanding they need to thrive. 💡 Discover Marc’s story and learn how you can help make a difference: #WorldChildrensDay #HealthForEveryChild #EarlyDetection #RightToTreatment #PreventThePreventable #FHEuropeFoundation
