You shouldn't invest in links for SEO (if you don't care about your brand) But for everyone else, links are essential. Why? Think of why they exist in the first place. ↳ Google needed a way to determine site authority. So, they observed how academia distributes authority. Professors need authority for raises & new opportunities. Their ticket was to get more research journal citations. Reputable citations = authority for professors. Now, replace the word "citations" with "links." It works the same way. Links help you: - Expand your brand awareness - Increase your referral traffic - Establish new connections But not the crummy: - Guest post links - Web 2.0 links - PBN links Remember that quality is king. Instead, aim to land: - Expert roundup links - Content asset links - Digital PR links These help your brand and assert your authority. Considering investing in the crummy links? Forget it Only invest in links if they help grow your brand. P.S. What are your thoughts on academia today?
