I am so proud of our Pajaro Valley Arts Teen Artes participants and the progress they’ve made bringing their mural to life. Led by PVA Programs Coordinator Josefina Rocha and PVA Board of Directors member and ever-talented muralist Nessa Ledesma, this vibrant work of collaboration with the City of Watsonville Parks & Recreation team is near completion and on display at Callaghan Park, Watsonville. If you’re in the neighborhood Friday August 16th at 2:30, please stop by for the ribbon cutting ceremony and give these teen artists a round of applause! #publicart #pvarts #youth #cityofwatsonville #pajarovalley #teens #arts #santacruz #community

Yesterday, I wrote and delivered this national trends report to my local Goose Creek, SC Cultural Arts Commission. This report offers insights into emerging trends in the arts sector focusing on community engagement, equity, accessibility, and supporting diverse leadership within the arts. While some recommendations are tailored specifically to Goose Creek, such as supporting local arts-based businesses and making arts spaces more accessible, the overarching themes of inclusivity, equitable practices, and the importance of community engagement are universally applicable. This report encourages communities everywhere to evaluate their arts programming and initiatives through these lenses, suggesting that even those outside Goose Creek could find valuable strategies and ideas to apply locally. Whether it's diversifying the types of art presented, ensuring equitable pay and contracts for artists, or enhancing accessibility for all community members, there's a wealth of insights that can inspire positive changes in arts communities nationwide. #ArtsInnovation #CommunityArts #EquitableArts #CulturalTrends #ArtsAccessibility #InclusiveArts #LocalArtsImpact #CreativeCommunities #ArtsAdvocacy #GooseCreekArts

We appreciate the shout out, Latarsha B.! And we are so happy to support and celebrate this very American holiday; at the same time recognizing that our democracy is still very much a work in progress. But, if we use the past to learn and self-reflect in the present, we can be better human beings in the present and future. #Juneteenth Princeton Hydro

Today, we recognize both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. It's a day to reflect on our shared history and the diverse cultures that shape our nation. While Columbus Day has long been part of American tradition, Indigenous Peoples' Day honors the rich heritage, resilience, and contributions of Native American communities. At Plus One Adoption, we celebrate the diversity of all families and believe in embracing every story with respect and understanding. Today, we acknowledge the importance of learning from the past to create a better future for everyone. How are you honoring this day? Did you know the arts can be a powerful tool for social change? Listen to the new episode of #LetsTalkPoverty with our own Alex Sarian to learn more about the power of arts and culture!
In this episode of #Let’sTalkPoverty, Meaghon Reid sits down with Alex Sarian, President & CEO of Arts Commons, to explore how the arts can drive systems change, reduce barriers for patrons and artists, and foster civic dialogue. “When you are embracing a civic mandate or responsibility, and the world is falling apart, your job should be incredibly clear. There is a way in putting the arts in service to people’s quality of life, to fostering civic dialogue, [and] to celebrating cultural identities that may have been excluded from a community or a city’s overall identity." - Alex Sarian Click on the link in our bio to listen and learn more, including why Alex thinks Calgary is uniquely positioned to become the next cultural hub in North America. #LetsTalkPoverty #EnoughforAll #ArtsAccessibility #PovertySolutions #YYC
