Ad Recall Lift is a metric that marketers refer to when evaluating a 2-day memory recall of consumers seeing an ad on social media. In a recent study, AUDIO (streaming, broadcast, podcast) ads proved to be 33% more recalled than their social media counterparts. Of course, there is more media floating about out there. Here's how audio sizes in terms of recall with the following popular media advertising outlets: -60% more consumers recall AUDIO over billboards -49% more consumers recall AUDIO over display ads -48% more consumers recall AUDIO over video ads The data goes deeper into what most advertisers care the most about: purchase intent: -51% more consumers are more likely to make a purchase from AUDIO than a billboard -40% more consumers are more likely to make a purchase from AUDIO than a social media ad -38% more consumers are more likely to make a purchase from AUDIO than a display ad -34% more consumers are more likely to make a purchase from AUDIO than a video ad Why? A 2023 Ad Age study revealed from a neuroscience standpoint (who can refute science, right?) that audio cues outperform visual cues when looking at ad recall. Neuroscience wins. Toss in the fact (proven out by WARC) that 31% of daily media consumption lies with audio but only 9% of brands have audio in their promotional media mix and brands have a powerful tool to tell their story and convert customers to sales.
