It’s easy to pathologize mental health seekers - reducing folks down to their symptoms: feelings like depression, stress, and anxiety. Interestingly enough, more than 60% of therapy seekers identify with one of the aforementioned big three. When it comes to creating a great onboarding experience, the symptoms almost tells you nothing because they're so ubiquitous. The symptoms don't speak to what makes a person take action and make a change in their mental health and wellness journey. We recently partnered with Yael Mark at Talking Behavioral Science to make our onboarding better and more I’ve been amazed by the work we’ve been able to accomplish in 3 short weeks with Yael to improve our onboarding flow, to make it more clear and more humane. She brought behavioral science to bare to create a novel but still infinitely more accessible onboarding experience for Therify Members and I can’t wait to implement more of her findings. If you’re building something, I can’t recommend Yael enough for behavioral product management advisory.

It's Mens Health Week! It's well know that men often suffer in silence due to societal expectations. They are too proud or nervous to ask for help, be that they are struggling mentally or they have other health concerns which they should get checked at the doctors. We often hear phrases like "man up" or "boys don't cry" which can contribute to a culture where expressing weakness or seeking help is seen as a failure to adhere to masculine ideals. That must be exhausting! One of the most critical areas affected by this stigma is mental health. Men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress. This can lead to severe consequences, including higher rates of suicide among men. According to the World Health Organisation, men are more likely to die by suicide than women, a statistic that highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and support. Creating an environment where men feel comfortable discussing their health concerns is vital. This can be achieved through public awareness campaigns, education, and the promotion of mental health resources specifically tailored to men. Encouraging men to share their experiences and support each other can help break down barriers. In the workplace employers can play a crucial role by promoting health and well-being in the workplace. Offering mental health resources, organising health screenings, and having a supportive work culture can make a significant difference. Providing training for managers to recognise signs of distress and offer support is also essential. At HW Facilities we offer all of our employees EAP which is an Employee Assistance program, free of charge where they have access to health assessments, short-term counselling, 24/7 helpline, and other vital wellbeing services. Just as we empower women, we should empower men to take control of their health without any prejudice. It's not just about living longer, it's about living better and healthier lives! The Mind charity have a wealth of information on men's mental health over the years, and the challenges they have faced. Follow the link for more information:

Today's #SamariTip for mental wellness: Nurture Your Sense of Purpose. Improved Mental Health: Individuals who have a strong sense of purpose tend to experience better mental health overall. When we feel connected to something greater than ourselves—whether it's a cause, a creative pursuit, or a personal mission—it provides a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Reduced Anxiety and Depression: Having a purpose can act as a buffer against anxiety and depression. Purposeful activities also distract us from negative thoughts and worries. Enhanced Cognitive Function: Keeps our minds engaged, sharpens our focus, and encourages lifelong learning. Physical Health Benefits: People with a strong sense of purpose tend to have better physical health outcomes. They're less likely to experience heart attacks, strokes, and even dementia. Purpose fuels our overall well-being. #samaritancentermv #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfCare

Did you know that being around friends and family plays a good role in your mental wellness? I'm constantly amazed by the profound impact social connection has on our mental well-being as a physiotherapist. Beyond the physical therapy sessions, it's the moments of genuine connection and support that truly elevate our spirits and contribute to our overall health. In a world where we're often caught up in the midst of many things, it's easy to overlook the importance of nurturing our social bonds. Yet, research consistently shows that strong social connections are linked to lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. That's why I encourage everyone to take a moment today to reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague. Whether it's a simple text, a phone call, or even a virtual coffee chat, these interactions can brighten someone's day and bolster their mental resilience. Let's make a conscious effort to prioritize these meaningful connections in our lives. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positivity and support that benefits us all. Reach out, share a smile, and let's continue to build a community that uplifts and empowers each other! #MentalWellbeing #SocialConnection #Physiotherapy #21dayswithbimola #linkedinchallenge

Did you know that 79% of people affected by work-related stress? But there's hope! Here are some practical tips from our CEO Jake on fostering a supportive workplace environment: 1️⃣ Encourage Openness Encourage open dialogue and actively listen to your team members. Taking meaningful action based on their feedback can make a big difference. 2️⃣ Embrace Flexibility Recognise that one-size-fits-all solutions may not work for mental health support. Be open to different ways of working and supporting your team's mental health needs. 3️⃣ Understand Individual Needs Every member of your team is unique, and their mental health journey will be too. Take the time to understand each person's needs and preferences when it comes to mental health support. 4️⃣ Consider Impact While mental health training is essential, it's important to consider its impact on your team members. Ensure that training programmes empower individuals and provide them with the necessary tools to support themselves and others. 5️⃣ Know How to Signpost You don't have to be an expert in mental health to support your team effectively. Invest in training programs like Chasing the Stigma's 'Ambassador of Hope,' which equip individuals with practical tools to recognise signs of distress, offer support, and signpost to appropriate resources. You can learn more about our Hub of Hope and Ambassador of Hope training in the bio link and if you have any questions, drop us a DM. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our team members. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
