A shocking 2022 survey by Women in Sport reported that over 1 million adolescent girls (43%) who previously considered themselves sporty stopped playing sports during middle school. We need to reverse this trend. From physical to emotional to communal well-being, the power of sport has the ability to touch EVERY aspect of our lives. Beyond helping to strengthen the brains of young people, sports provide the opportunity to develop movement and motor skills. https://lnkd.in/gurW_NPe
You can't argue with stats like this - it has never been more important to support females to participate, access and flourish in sporting activity.
Very Interesting. It is sad to see whenever a girl stops playing sport. Sports has the potential to help them grow and become more resilient, stronger and healthier from young on.
Many people miss understand the importance of sports in teaching life lessons. You won't get better without hard work. You won't get better if you aren't tested by people as good or better than you. You may never learn to trust your team if you don't have a team to begin with. You can do everything right and still lose. Sometimes other factors (IE-bad officiating) can change an outcome, this happens in business too (IE-legislative changes, war, recession, natural disasters, etc.). If you never learn those lessons, and more importantly how to adapt to those things as a child how do you know how to handle them as an adult? I was a terrible athlete but I cherish the life lessons that I didn't even know I was learning.
