Breaking 🚨 The UK government is unveiling a new Mental Health Bill today. This has the potential to be a game-changer for our mental health system *if* it's bold enough to make radical change. We'll let you know how the Bill is looking when it's published. There’s still work to do and crucial additions needed, but this is a once-in-a-generation chance for real change. It’s time to make it happen!
Ive suffer with a mental health conditions. After being under phystric care for last 6years i welcome change. As all they done is medicate me. With no actually therpy. The root of my depression. What kick started my mind becoming unwell was death loss of a child. Ive ask for physiology though the weight times are unreal.this is where the internet plays a key role surley keeping a person on a waiting list engaging maybe.i suppose what im saying is self help groups online like this help to be able to express yourself in a safe space really helps with off loading.
This is great news 👏 However, we also need to tackle roots of mental health (coping with change, communicating clearly, identity building, belonging and relationships) to understand how these manifest and also to distinguish where emotions end and mental health concerns begin as many are unable to truly tell the difference e.g. anxiety is often only seen as a mental health condition when it is a normal, everyday emotion with a pathological/mental health end.
The introduction of the new Mental Health Bill marks a crucial opportunity to tackle the systemic challenges highlighted in the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) latest State of Care report. The CQC stresses that fragmented services often result in disjointed care, whereas properly integrated care systems (ICSs) can vastly improve coordination and ensure people receive the right support at the right time. At Bossa Health, we’ve built our model around this principle of integration —connecting therapy, clinical psychology, and psychiatry to provide seamless, holistic care. We’re hopeful that this new legislation will drive the widespread adoption of integrated approaches, transforming mental health services across the country. This is indeed a once-in-a-generation chance to create a truly connected system, and we remain committed to playing our part. #MentalHealthReform #IntegratedCare #BossaHealth
Change is greatly needed to the Mental Health system, in it's current state it's not fit for purpose. The lack of getting to the root of the problem and just providing medication is not only a burden on the NHS system but also the people who need help don't get the service they need to help get better and just end up being stuck in a vicious cycle.
Yes, with our world getting more interdependent and connected and wired (sometimes without our bloody knowledge...), things become too evident and stakes look higher when hyped and conflicts arise – what suffers is our mental health because we are human and we all need to love and be love (which is often hyped the wrong way towards polarization for profits only!) Glad that the governments now know that mental health keeps a country going, but again let's not hyped it towards the outdated 'us against them' (like what the whole world's media has been projecting for Gaza pre-)
Let’s hope it makes a positive change. Having lost a family member to mental health and who was failed by the system and having another family member with severe depression of whom you try to support which is exhausting. I’ve seen first hand the impact on families. The system is broke and more help is needed for those in desperate need! Mental health is bigger than ever sadly!
With Mental Health for parents, and children, being one of leading causes for referral to our services, we hope that these changes gives people the support that they need and early enough, to prevent the impact so sadly felt by so many.
Such an important issue that is finally being addressed. We are hopeful that this can bring real change to the way people are treated in the public sector and beyond!
When you say it could be a game changer for our mental health system, I wonder if that means we'll be getting one. I'm pretty sure the NHS idea of mental health is a pamphlet in somebody's drawer somewhere.
The section 75 agreement has ended in many NHS trusts. NHS and social care working in silo doesn't work! They need to be working closely together to provide the best possible care. I work in a LA where they ended the S75 and it is a nightmare! Can never get hold of the Care Coordinators and no access to health records and risks. Clients having two workers 🤷🏼♀️ cleint are confused about roles and raise concerns they can never get hold of their names worker. The whole mental health services need revamping as its not fit for purpose. Bring back the S75 in all LA/NHS services!
