The blooming of the daily bike usage impact is not only changing (or should) those places where the new mobility has not arrived yet. As of the early 70s, Amsterdam has become the benchmark of bike/city coupling as a solution for the uncontrolled expansion of cars in a limited space. Set Amsterdam as an example to identify who uses bike lanes: - Bikes. - e-bikes. - Speed e-bikes (45km/h) - Mopeds under 25km/h. - e-Mopeds. - Cargo bikes. - Approved e-scooters. - Sports cyclists. - Tourists. - Tampered e-bikes. This is becoming a (new) real problem because of the predictable mess they all mean when sharing lanes, even when there are differentiations about where you can ride depending on your legal top speed, that is 25km/h or 45km/h. Younger people are starting to take steps backward in the bike practical usage, reason why the Administrations had to launch campaigns to take (concerned/scared) people back to bikes. Logical regulations, education, and individual responsibility should draft the new panorama. Exclusion, demonization, and banning was never a solution. Neither here. For many, the new mobility is a solution, for others a solution for inclusion and survival. Vivianne Heijnen, Minister of The Environment of the Dutch Government supports a campaign to encourage people to ride their bikes.
