The world’s probably 2 largest B2B automotive trade shows (AMF and IAA) are being organised on consecutive weeks. Giving a real headache to some companies as to where to exhibit and for others which one to visit. To be at both is a costly excerise. We’re in a fortunate (geographical) position to be relatively close to both locations and therefore we can drive to both shows easily to wlk them. But it’s not the case for many people across Europe who have to make a choice between the two whilst it’d make business sense for them to be at both. Is this a smart schedule from Hannover and Frankfurt? Is this a sustainable schedule? Could these shows be combined / share the same location? Not sure. The good news is: zsofia pioker will be at IAA for two days. If you’re there too, let’s meet! #automechanika2024 #IAAtransportation

A year ago, at the Shanghai Auto Show the Chinese #automotive industry showcased what’s in the box. At the IAA MOBILITY 2023 at the latest, it became more than obvious that Chinese BEVs were here to stay. And at the end of April, exciting innovations will once again be unveiled at the China Auto Show in Beijing. A good opportunity for a sneak preview and to take a closer look at the Chinese car market and analyze how Chinese OEMs want to gain a foothold in the European markets. The market entry of the Chinese will stimulate competition, accelerate the ramp-up of e-mobility and consumers can benefit from a wealth of new and, above all, affordable models. European manufacturers should use this head wind as momentum for the transformation. In our webcast "From China - with love? Sustaining industry transformation in a more protectionist world", I will join my colleague Jun JIN (Partner & Automotive Industry Leader, PwC China) and Burkhard Riering (Editor-in-Chief, Automobilwoche) in providing an insight into the market dynamics and highlighting options for action. I am looking forward to engaging in discussions and addressing many exciting questions! 👉Join us here: https://lnkd.in/drQSCtrR #AutomotiveIndustry #IndustryTransformation #Innovation #Webcast #pwc

First of all, we want to thank all our visitors at the successful and promising fair Automechanika Frankfurt 2024. This year’s theme focused on remanufacturing and sustainability. With the following, ERA Benelux N.V. demonstrates our commitment to these new developments. This year, 21% of the steering racks we sell are already electric, and for EHPS pumps, that figure rises to an impressive 32%! But the numbers become even more striking when we look at turnover: 38% of our turnover from steering racks comes from electric models, and 52% of our pump sales are driven by EHPS pumps. 👉 That means that a substantial part of our turnover comes from Electric steering and EHPS pumps! What’s even more interesting? Many competitors either don’t offer EHPS pumps or have a limited range of electric steering racks. 🤔 Just think about how much turnover you could be missing out on by not tapping into these growing markets! While competitive pricing on top sellers is crucial, this shows that sometimes the bigger picture tells a whole different story. 😉 If you have any questions or want to learn more, feel free to reach out! #erabenelux #sustainability #remanufacturing #circulareconomy #futureproof #thefutureisnow #automotive #aftermarket #automotiveaftermarket #apraEurope #ManufacturedAgain #Steering

The last treasure of the automotive industry... Today, Automechanika Frankfurt – the world's largest trade fair for the automotive aftermarket – is opening its doors and I am looking forward to many new insights on this highly important market segment. While the whole auto industry is under massive pressure, the aftermarket continues to offer very healthy margins and a stable stream of revenues in turbulent times. Therefore, it is no surprise that many market participants (OEMs as well as suppliers and independent aftermarket players) are doubling down on this important business segment. Unlike the new car business that is gradually moving from combustion engines to EVs, the aftermarket for the existing car park will continue to be skewed towards conventional cars for decades to come - offering profit potential for the established carmakers and suppliers. The comprehensive service network coverage of established OEMs is also a key instrument to fend off Chinese car manufacturers in Europe who are still weak on this important element of the value chain. Nonetheless, there are also numerous challenges for the aftermarket: the low new car sales of the past few years as well as the increasing electrification have a negative impact on the business potential while lack of skilled workshop technicians represents a massive growth barrier for many players. Supply chain disruptions and cost inflation have the same negative effects on the business that they have for the overall industry. Irrespective of these challenges, the aftermarket continues to be the last treasure of the automotive industry – preserving and growing the market position will be a strategic imperative for future success in the industry. We at Oliver Wyman are proud to help many of our clients on this journey.

This is cool. Auto Trader UK will be sharing brand new research into UK car buyer attitudes towards Chinese brands at this event. We all know about products, batteries, scale, speed, ambitions, but nobody’s yet thought to ask buyers what they think. It’s an untold story and super-important. Three big questions we’ll get into: 1. Does the country of origin (production and brand name) matter? 2. What do UK car buyers think of Chinese car brands and their products? 3. What do Chinese car brands need to know to succeed (and what do the rest need to know to combat)? The early results are ace. Revealing.
What impact will Chinese brands have on your business and opportunity do they represent? Find out on the 11th of December at the NFDA | National Franchised Dealers Association's second annual Driving Automotive event in London, which will explore the growing array of new entrant brands and the impact they will have on retail. Packed with expert speakers from across the Chinese and UK retailing landscape, the event will provide retailers with exclusive insights into the opportunity they represent, how to build lasting and profitable partnerships, and what their arrival means for the current landscape. It will also be an opportunity to meet, and hear first hand from a range of new Chinese brands, including XPENG, Leapmotor, Changan Automobile, Skywell UK, Farizon Auto, and BYD UK on their UK plans, and their retailer partnership ambitions. They'll also have a range of cars on display to interact with. Automotive lightweighting is a major trend in the new energy vehicle industry. This is mainly because lightweighting can improve the range of new energy vehicles, reduce energy consumption, and help lower battery costs. Since the battery packs of new energy vehicles are relatively heavy, lightweighting is particularly important for these vehicles. Lightweighting technology can reduce the weight of components, improve driving range, and reduce component wear while meeting vehicle safety requirements. For example, according to the announcement by China Jushi, reducing the weight of the entire vehicle by 10% can improve fuel efficiency by 6%-8%; for every 100 kg reduction in vehicle weight, fuel consumption per 100 km can be reduced by 0.3-0.6 liters; and reducing vehicle weight by 1% can lower fuel consumption by 0.7%. Additionally, the application of lightweight technology can shorten braking distances, increase kinetic energy savings, improve acceleration performance, enhance maximum speed, and reduce noise and vibration. Lightweighting also helps control the cost of new energy vehicles. For example, the average weight of a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engine in a fuel car is 75-250 kg, and the average weight of a gearbox is 45-181 kg, whereas the battery pack in a new energy vehicle, especially a pure electric vehicle, makes the overall vehicle weight higher than that of a fuel car in the same class. #Lightweight #LightweightAsia2024 #Automotivelightweighting To learn more about the market trends, stay tuned to Lightweight Asia 2024 Date: 03-05 July 2024 Venue: Shanghai New International Expo Center Learn more:https://lnkd.in/gid2RGSb
