Self care is a word that we throw around a lot. At its core, it's really as simple as taking care of yourself. Individuals who build a routine around self care report benefits such as enhanced self-confidence, increased productivity, and happiness. Studies have also demonstrated a link between engagement with a self care routine, and reduction or elimination of anxiety and depression, better adaptation to change, stronger relationships, and better physical health. This includes decreased risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer (Mental Health First Aid USA, 2022). But what does self care look like for you? The options are virtually endless, so here are just a few ideas across four domains! Physical: - healthy eating - exercise - personal hygiene - skincare - getting enough sleep - wearing clothes you feel good in Emotional: - finding hobbies you enjoy - time to rest when needed - vacations / day trips - finding reasons to laugh - talking about your problems - recognising your strengths and achivements Social: - spend time with people that you love - have stimulating conversations - ask others for help when needed - do fun things with others - keep in touch with old friends - meet new people Spiritual: - spend time in nature - meditate - pray - find meaning in your life - participate in important causes - act in ways that support your morals and values If you have some of your own ideas you'd like to share, please list them in the comments! #selfcare #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #health #stress #productivity #happiness

I want to share a personal story, over the past few days, I've been dealing with some health issues that have given me a fresh perspective on the importance of good health and wellbeing. As a young girl, I often took my health for granted, assuming that energy and vitality would always be there. However, this experience has been a wake-up call, highlighting how crucial it is to prioritize our physical and mental health. When you’re young, it’s easy to take your health for granted. We often push ourselves too hard, neglecting the basics like proper nutrition, regular exercise, and adequate rest. However, my recent struggles made me realize that good health is the foundation of everything we do. Without it, our ability to work, study, and enjoy life diminishes significantly. I’ve learned the hard way that we must listen to our bodies and take proactive steps to maintain our wellbeing. This journey has taught me that good health is a precious gift. I encourage everyone to reflect on their lifestyle and make small, positive changes. Remember, taking care of your health today will pave the way for a brighter, more productive tomorrow. Let's prioritize our health today for a better tomorrow Stay healthy and take care of yourselves! #HealthAndWellbeing #SelfCare #HealthyLiving #PersonalGrowth #WellnessJourney #StayHealthy

💙 As September draws to a close, so does Self-Care Awareness Month 💙 According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “Self-care actions are habits, practices, and lifestyle choices – things that we can do to help look after ourselves and lead a healthier life.” Habits are defined as “settled or regular tendencies or practices, especially ones that are hard to give up.” But if we want to change a habit, can we? The way we manage our movement, sleep, food (and yes, drinks), and our social circles significantly impacts our well-being and mental health. This is no surprise, yet we often struggle with the choices we make. Sometimes, a kind reminder or a gentle push can be the wake-up call we need to make a lifestyle change for better health. At IQVIA, we recognize the importance of a healthy work culture and the well-being of our people. Over the past month, I’ve been both impressed and heartened by the initiatives taken by IQVIA and all IQVIAns. These efforts have served as kind reminders and gentle pushes towards better health, perhaps even sparking new habits for some. For those who didn’t manage their daily lives as intended, be kind to yourself. It’s not about performance. While September may be ending, self-care is a lifelong commitment that we only get better at with practice 💙 #SelfCare #SelfCareAwarenessMonth #cFSPCares #WeAreIQVIA Edyta Fleming

Embracing Self-Care While Navigating Health Challenges. For those who don’t know, I live with fibromyalgia along with a few other conditions that can significantly impact my health. Over the past month, I've found myself less active here on LinkedIn, due to the need to use my energy wisely. I've been navigating a particularly challenging flare-up recently that has required me to listen to my body a skill I have acquired on my journey of self discovery and self awareness. It’s a reminder that, sometimes, we need to pause and assess our well-being. Life can often feel like a race, but there are moments when slowing down is not just advisable; it's essential. During these times, I’ve learned the importance of being still and tuning into what my body is telling me. It might be sending signals that it needs rest, a break, or simply time to heal. This leads to an important lesson: understanding our limitations is a crucial part of self-care. Saying "no" can feel difficult at times, especially when we’re motivated to push through our challenges. It’s vital to prioritise our health and well-being without the weight of guilt. it’s okay to pause, step back and recharge; doing this enables us to come back stronger and more focused. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a necessary aspect of maintaining our ability to be compassionate, contribute, create, communicate and connect with others. If you also find yourself navigating health challenges—whether visible or invisible—I encourage you to listen to your body. Give yourself permission to prioritise your well-being. #FibromyalgiaAwareness #SelfCare #SelfAwareness #ChronicIllness #MentalHealthMatters #Wellbeing #Resilience
