OPEN or CLOSED? Which are you? Memorial Day - What is your business doing? Please give me your opinion in the comments 👇 Bedard Bros. Automotive Group is CLOSED on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Are you surprised? Yes, we know Memorial Day is a day when many dealerships (including those all around us) have "BIG SALES", cookouts, games and parties. Well.... we do not. Why? In our family we were raised that days such as Memorial Day and Labor day are about something much bigger than car deals. Memorial Day is about remembering and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice rather than a discount or savings. Do you agree? We have chosen to be CLOSED on Memorial Day despite the potential lost sales. #peopleoverprofit At our dealership if we (ownership) are not going to be at the dealership on a holiday then neither will our staff. Rather, we encourage our staff to spend Memorial Day honoring those who served with their loved ones. What are your thoughts? Is this right or wrong? What does your business do? #holidays #family #remember #honor #bethechange

There is a huge fund-raiser, at one time the largest single fundraiser they did, for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in the U.S. called the Texas MS-150 Bike Tour. Each April, 13,000 riders and even more support staff move a small city from Houston once to Austin, Texas, and now to College Station, Texas. At roughly 60 miles, or about 2/3 of the way on the first day, when you’re tired and weak, the journey seems much longer than you imagined or trained for, and you have less left in your physical tank than you thought…along comes the town of Fayetteville, Texas. If you know what’s coming next, you know it’s truly an awesome (not overstated) experience. If you don’t know what’s next, it will change your world. As you ride into town headed west down the Main Street and Highway, you see a few older buildings and homes up ahead like many small towns. Then you hear it, and soon you see it. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of people lining the side of the road yelling, screaming, cheering, singing, dancing to the music. Suddenly, you realize it’s YOU they are doing this for. This is a calculated effort by the town and the County to spur tourism, and they are sure to include information about Fayetteville and Fayette County in your MS-150 Information Packet. But for the riders, the feeling is indescribable. You suddenly feel like you can accomplish ANYTHING, and you don’t care that they are doing this for everyone…not just you, because that doesn’t matter. It’s here when you need it the most. I tried to put together two videos to do some justice to what this journey looks and feels like. The first is mine, shot with a poor-quality phone in 2006. The second is “borrowed” from someone named Michael Weekley in 2017 (link is below). Maybe with these, you can try and catch just a tiny glimpse of how special this is and why I’m getting a little misty just writing about it and watching the ride again. I’m not sure if the town of Fayetteville still does this, but may God Bless you all for doing it at all, and for so many years. When you’re near the end of things, and it’s not going as well as you would like, and you are down and discouraged…Think of Fayetteville, watch this a few times, and remember someone is cheering you on that you didn’t know about or see coming until it’s all around you, just waiting for you to look up and take it in. #Working with #youth is very #exciting and certainly never a dull moment. While for most completing school it's imperative to have a job as most homes need the additional #income. Once the youth find #jobopportunities more than often they get into a comfort zone and find it tough to #furthereducate themselves. This is a cycle I am all to familiar with myself. I enjoy our 121 sessions to sit and gain their insight as to why they working, what is the #shorttermplan, #longtermplan and my favourite when we establish a #personaldevelopmentplan specific for the #individual. One youth really really wants to be a firefighter. His #maingoal is to work to #help the #family for next 18months and in this time get ready to sign up for Firefighter. The group chuckled as we in a call center right. Told the team to hang on we open to hear from each one. He was shy and i assured him a session later to discuss more. Later on he opened up, his heart was made up 4yrs ago when a shack in his area was alight. He saved an elderly man and his dog, the firefighters gave him a special thanks as the #firetruck couldnt reach in time. He never forgot that feeling of #fulfillment and kept dreaming about being a firefighter. He doesnt know any firefighters and wouldnt know where to begin to get more #information. He recently got access to a smart device and needed support to navigate. We spent time searching and found the #Firefighteropenday and the Volunteer Wildfire Services, they hosting a fundraiser this Sunday https://lnkd.in/erxhMkpF He was ecstatic and gave me #biggesthug ever. He was super chuffed that I acknowledged his #dream #preciousmoment 100% #commitment #motivation to #KPIs in the timeframes and with excellent customer care. His going to #rescue those customers, put out all the #escalations and take #bonus home every month #livehisbestlife Taking the time to understand their why, then work out when they plan, to do what they truelly want to do and how, makes a high impact. #BPOIndustry has been a lifeline for most and whilst each one is #happy to be #employed let's never forget the #dreams and #aspirations. #leaders #engage #connect #knowtheirwhy #listentounderstand #settingexpectations #coaching #121matters #lovewhatwedo #aspiretoinspire #howtotrainafirefighter It's #International #FirefighterDay 04 May 2024. Let's honour these heroes and celebrate the lifelines they have provided. Let's raise awareness to those aspiring to become #firefighters of opportunities such as #whatsonincapetown this Saturday at #athlonestadium #firefighteropenday meet and greet these heroes and ask all the questions you have to understand what you need to do to join. https://lnkd.in/eBdDKYBu https://lnkd.in/eYuTKuWt

There ya have it folks... Anyone who has spent time traveling across the US has probably seen impressively sized American flags. You see them everywhere — at local car dealerships, veteran memorials, and anywhere where people want to show off their love for America. However, only one place can claim to have the largest American flag. In 1981, Ski Demski of Long Beach, California, commissioned the Superflag, the world’s largest American flag. The Superflag is a massive flag measuring 255’x555’. It weighs more than 3,000 lbs and requires the help of more than 600 volunteers to transport! Each star is 17 feet high, and the stripes are 20 feet wide. The flag is so huge that it can cover a football field one and a half times. The Superflag holds the title for the largest American flag, but that is expected to change soon. Worchester Resources has plans to make the tiny town of Columbia Falls, Maine, home to the largest American flag and the tallest flagpole in the world. The project includes a plan to build a flagpole rising 1,776 feet above sea level (taller than the Empire State Building!), a 4,000-seat auditorium, and monument walls with the names of all 24 million US veterans. The expected completion date is July 4, 2026. If you enjoy my posts, find them EDucational and can find in your heart to contribute to my grandsons cause it would be greatly appreciated.
