Current skills Everything around us is changing. Fast and sharp - so 21st century. Technologies, relations between countries, human values, views, priorities. Everything changes except education. Unfortunately, training programs at most universities remain unchanged. Not only in the developing countries but also in the world - education simply does not have time to adapt to the current pace. This problem is being researched and studied. However, they cannot offer effective solutions at the moment. But there are four skills that you definitely won’t be lost with. And not only in work, but also in life: - Communication skills. The ability to exchange thoughts, discuss issues, ideas and solutions - this has always been and will be in demand. - Critical thinking. Today, if you do not read the news, then you are not an informed person. And if you are reading, you are most likely misinformed. Therefore, thinking critically, looking at a problem from different angles is valuable. - Ability to collaborate. There are more and more introverts every day, so the ability to find an approach to people and unite to achieve a common goal is more important than ever. - Creativity. Trying new, revolutionary and non-standard things is also in demand in the age of innovation and invention. It doesn't matter whether you've completed your formal education or are still in the process, pay attention to these 4 aspects. Because in the future they will bring much more benefit than a diploma. And their relevance will only grow. #SkillsForSuccess #LifelongLearning #Adaptability #CurrentSkills #CareerAdvancement #StayRelevant

Ready to embark on an international teaching adventure for the 2025-26 academic year? 🌍 My journey has been filled with incredible experiences, teaching for almost twenty-seven years, eighteen of those internationally working across three national schools and eight International schools in five countries, and lived in seven. I'm here to share some key takeaways to help you navigate the process: Resilience and Patience are your allies: The international teaching market can be competitive. Stay persistent, and don't get discouraged by setbacks. Patience is crucial throughout the application process. Deep Dive into School Research: Go beyond the school's website. Explore their social media, read reviews, and try to connect with current teachers to get an authentic feel for the school's culture and values. Tailor, Tailor, Tailor: Your resume/CV, cover letter, and letters of inquiry should be meticulously crafted for each specific school and position. Highlight relevant skills and experiences that align with their needs. Follow Up with Purpose: Following up demonstrates your genuine interest. Send a thank-you email after submitting your application and consider a follow-up inquiry a week or two later. Network Strategically: Connect with teachers, recruiters, and school administrators on LinkedIn and other platforms. Attend online or in-person events related to international education. Embrace AI Tools (with Discernment): AI can be a valuable asset for refining your resume/CV, generating cover letter content, and even practicing interview questions. However, always review, edit, and personalize the output to ensure it reflects your unique voice and qualifications. Schedule Interviews for Peak Performance: Whenever possible, aim for interview times when you're most alert and energized. Avoid scheduling them at the end of a long school day. You want to be able to showcase your best self! My background in Professional Coaching, Training and Development, coupled with my MBA, has been instrumental in navigating this journey. It's equipped me with valuable insights into the international education market and the skills to present myself effectively throughout the process. Feel free to connect and ask any questions! Let's support each other on this exciting path. #internationalteaching #education #teachingabroad #careeradvice #AIinEducation #professionaldevelopment

Here's the number one reason why universities aren't realising higher levels of knowledge exchange outputs (according to KE professionals). During a recent Skillfluence webinar we explored the challenge of translating KE Policy into Practice through the prism of a simple behaviour-change model. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝟯 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 1. 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - they must want to do it. 2. 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 - they must have the time to do it. 3. 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 - they must know how to do it. We asked 50 KE professionals, "𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝟯 (𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀) 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮?" The chat box instantly lit up: "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" "capacity" It wasn't even close! So, what should we do with this information as we think about developing initiatives that help to increase levels of KE & Commercialisation? #KnowledgeExchange #UniversityResearch #Commercialisation #CollaborativeR&D #Impact

Higher education often sparks the debate: Is it merely a ticket to a job or a passport to exploration? While it undeniably prepares many for specific careers, it should also be a platform for discovering new ideas, fostering critical thinking, and exploring diverse interests. In an ever-evolving job market, the ability to think, adapt, and innovate becomes invaluable. Education shouldn't be confined to textbooks and exams; it should encourage curiosity beyond conventional boundaries. Does higher education equip you merely with skills for a job, or does it nurture a lifelong passion for learning? How do you view its role in today's world? Share your thoughts! #HigherEducation #LifelongLearning #CriticalThinking #Innovation #CareerDevelopment #ExploreIdeas #JobMarket #Curiosity #EducationForAll #FutureOfEducation #PersonalGrowth #ContinuousImpro

The disconnected is often when we are unable to translate the knowledge acquired from academic pursuit into real tangible solutions to our daily problems. In one of my recent conversations with a group of interns in our office, I argued that the sole reason as to why we exist is simply to solve a problem and to respond to a certain need in our environment. Education therefore should equip us to be aware of the needs in our space and individually come up with solutions to solve them. And some of the critical questions that should set us apart in our career excellence roadmap are; 1. How do I adopt the knowledge and competencies gained in school with the needs of my organization? How can my knowledge fix the organization's gaps? 2. What problem exists within my limited space and role that requires applications of knowledge? 3. How do I position myself leveraging on my knowledge and competencies from all the academic papers acquired to create efficiencies in processes, save costs, delight customers, create better ways of getting things done? 4. In my personal life, my relationships, finances, how do I translate deep knowledge learnt from class to improve my value to myself and the society. This exercise of questioning how knowledge impacts us in different ways is not as easy as we'd talk about it. But it is of utmost importance for the purpose of achieving personal excellence In our #Academicexcellence #conversation with Eng. Opuge Ephraim Obuolloh, MSc. PE, MIEK, MCIHT. on Conversations with Erick Kagose the other day, this translation of knowledge into tangible output came up. Have a listen. What's your take?

"Education doesn't stop when the classroom doors close" We live in a world that's constantly evolving, and the ability to adapt and learn independently has become more crucial than ever. So, it's not just about textbooks and formal education; it's about the relentless pursuit of knowledge. Self-study has allowed me to explore topics I'm interested in, dive into niche areas, and open my mind. The journey has been challenging at some times, but the sense of accomplishment and the joy of acquiring knowledge independently are unparalleled. Just a moment of my self-studying - struggling with a new journey named Chinese and dreaming 'bout the day when I could become a game-changer in my career path. Hope this post inspires you all in great spirits. :D #selfstudy #chineselearning
