Fashionistas often ask the question, "Who wore it better?" In the context of artificial intelligence, Google's I/O 2024 Keynote outshined OpenAI's GPT-4o introduction by leaps and bounds. Those who follow me know I'm very critical of what people say and claim about AI and don't often have a lot of positive things to say. Google's team presented a much more grounded and realistic future of AI than OpenAI. Their demonstration of maturity, experience, and expertise in bringing products and services to market is commendable. Well done, Google! With AI tools we are once again forgetting that the tool itself (which AI tools are) won't provide us sustainable and productive outcomes, our questions and critical thinking will. Once again we are forgetting that repeating and following blindly is more likely to make wrong things better instead of finding the right things to do.
