OK so I hear AVD support. Regional availability I would personally expect to be solved at some point 😁

Support for Azure Virtual Desktop :)

In my opinion it should be a suitable solution for all the Microsoft technologies that utilize the same underlaying infrastructure. So apart from AVD that was already mentioned I'd expect it also to work with services like DevBox. Which seen from the perpective of the Windows App should not be difficult to build in. From the FAQ both are currently not supported but my recommendation would be to fix that ASAP though I do understand that there is a fragile relationship with OEMs/ODMs for ThinClients. I would also recommend scaling out the availability which I think is currently quite limited especially for Europe and Asia. Can't wait for it to be available in The Netherlands. Maybe make a limited amount available to POC/POV-projects run through Microsoft (through Unified for example)? As a thought experiment I'd like to see a "virtual" Windows 365 Link that can be used for development/testing. This is a thing i've been looking for ages for and there are some software solutions but I'd like to see one that is not requiring the purchase of X or be super tied into a OEM/ODM.

It should shift into to Surface bucket and be the first desktop pc in the surface line. So it should be “Microsoft Surface PC”. Then Microsoft should develop 3 new autopilot defaults. 1. Windows 365 profile 2. AVD Profile 3. A normal windows 11 device Why just release another thin client like device while Microsoft should be capable of providing such a broader version. There are already so many good things clients brands on the market. In terms of devices, why don’t we focus on a complete device delivery with customers when Surface Laptops are provided there already. These customers today need to utilize other brands to complete the needs of normal desktops. Just my 2 cents…

Yet another thin client 😐

I was involved in Multipoint (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/multipoint-services/getting-started-with-multipoint-services) where the promise was, multi-user computing with low cost and complexity for the end user device (though, limited distance). There will always be scenarios that require low cost thin clients. And, hardening those thin clients will help in a subset of those scenarios. Any device that is targeted to a specific scenarios and truly focuses on that scenario (not trying to become general purpose) should succeed within that niche. From what I have read about 365Link it could define the scenarios more and contrast to another well managed solution, a Windows PC - when should an organization go with a fat client vs. a thin client. Agreed with other posters that the backend should be flexible which, will increase it's opportunity attach rate. One other comment, cost is always going to be a key part of any offering.

A standard AVD Linux client for all thin client vendors or a special config of Win IOT specific for AVD and Win365 would be more interesting. Better to stick to software IMHO... It did make a lot of buzz though!
