Great podcast with our CSO Chip Strange. He shares some of the key insights we provided consumers, the energy and telecommunications providers, as well as the government, during Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the USA earlier in the year. Worth a listen! (the timings of key insights are provided, for those short of time!)

I finally got to my backed up podcast queue today and was absolutely delighted that it gifted me "Category 6" by 99% Invisible. Natural hazards, structural engineers, risk communication, and Roman Mars' warm-hug-of-a-voice saying "build more resilient communities"...this was such a great listen! I highly recommend the episode to anyone in the natural hazards risk field, and the podcast in general to anyone interested in LITERALLY ANYTHING. https://lnkd.in/geQ5YSm7

We're in the transit business; our clients move people from where they are to where they want to go, by air, rail, road or water. And natural disasters like hurricanes don't stop people from that movement; in fact they accelerate that movement. To better understand how our clients handle that movement before, during and after any natural disaster, we interviewed six transit/transportation CEOs about Hurricanes Helene and Milton on our podcast Transit Unplugged. Strong listening: https://lnkd.in/gncr9U5K

In the most recent episode of Core Conversations, host, Maiclaire Bolton-Smith, sits down with Jon Schneyer to discuss the importance of resilient building codes as the future promises stronger & more hazardous risks among the property industry. "When we see a higher proportion of cat fours and fives relative to one twos and threes, not necessarily to be more hurricanes total, but a lot of stronger ones. Maybe a little bit more rapid intensification prior to landfall. So it is of the utmost importance to start thinking about mitigation now." As the frequency and severity of natural catastrophes intensify, the need to strengthen communities' resiliency against these dangers is increasingly urgent. Building codes are a critical tool, yet their adoption and enforcement vary significantly across states. In this podcast, host Maiclaire Bolton Smith is joined by CoreLogic's Director of Catastrophe Response, Jon Schneyer, to discuss the importance of building codes, address concerns regarding up-front costs versus long-term benefits, and discuss the success of stronger structures in weathering storms. https://ow.ly/F2QT50Sv2pF #BuildingCodes #CustomHomeBuilder #Resiliency #TheIntentionalBuilder

As your business is deciding whether to close over the next few days, remember these tips, too. - Make sure all equipment is off the floor (computers, printers, UPS) - Check and charge any power banks you have so they're ready for you if you lose power. - Share your official communication channel with employees so everyone knows what's happening. And keep it updated. You might also want to refresh your business continuity plan. And set up a post event debrief for next week. Disasters happen. Let's talk about the ones you can deduct. Next week, I will bring you my personal recipe for surviving hard political times. For all of you suffering right now, I want to say that I feel it with you, and I hope that you are taking a break, getting offline, and getting as much human connection, good food, exercise, and sunshine as you possibly can. But for today, I'm not even going to go there. Because I really am taking a break from politics and the news right now. So today, I am bringing you a podcast episode to serve as an outline of all the different ways that you get a break, get a refund, and get a minute when you suffer a disastrous loss. This is not just about hurricanes. It's about any situation where you experience a loss of personal or business property. It doesn't need to be in a Federally Declared Disaster Zone (although that designation unlocks some special benefits, so pay attention if that is you). It's also for smaller-scale disasters like fire, tornadoes, flooding, etc. I made this episode to help you know what benefits you get when sh*t goes terribly wrong. It's less of a "let's get nerdy with all the tiny details" and more "table of contents, so you can choose your own adventure." This is an episode to stick in the resources section of your website, or to share with a friend who had a studio fire. Watch the podcast here: https://lnkd.in/e9y_sisn
