Is the Silverstone Grand Prix just about speed and adreniline? Not at all.....the British Grand Prix significantly benefits the #northamptonshire economy.....and here’s why: 💷 The race attracts over 400,000 spectators during the weekend, filling local hotels, campsites, and B&B's. Visitors spend on accommodation, meals, and entertainment, providing a substantial boost to the hospitality sector - Whittlebury Park and the new Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone for example 🍔 Pubs, restaurants, and shops near the circuit experience increased footfall....from merchandise sales to food and beverages, businesses thrive during the event, our local pub which is just a few miles from the circuit will be full. 🏎️ The area has become the epi-centre of the motor-racing industry and supply-chains, with a huge talent-pool of engineers, designers, manufacturing businesses and professional firms, all providing high-tech, highly skilled jobs - for example the Catesby Projects facility near #Daventry 🧑 The Grand Prix creates temporary jobs for local residents, including security, catering, and event staff - of all ages, and provides a great experience. 🛣️ The race drives infrastructure improvements......roads (like the A43 link from M40 to M1), parking facilities, and utilities (including a great local internet backbone) enhancing the region’s overall appeal. 🚀 The event receives global media coverage, showcasing Northamptonshire’s scenic beauty and cultural heritage..........attracting future tourists and investors - the members of the Silverstone Technology Cluster being a great example. 🍾🍾 The event fosters community pride and engagement. Locals participate in festivities, volunteer, and celebrate - this year its #kingsofleon. 📈 So the British Grand Prix isn’t just about speed and adrenaline; it fuels economic #growth, supports local businesses, and strengthens community bonds. We have to, as designers, keep periodically asking this question - what can we do for society? Obviously the challenges that society faces, while designers face them too in their everyday, are not something designers are normally called upon to address. These strategic challenges are of a higher order of complexity and essentially of a different nature. Yet, it is clear to many that there is intrinsic in their nature, a call for approaches that design offers in other domains. Design cannot however take on the burden of addressing these challenge by themselves - that would be an inappropriate hubris on the part of design. The complexities demand inter- and trans disciplinary work, something traditional design is yet to come to grips with - but it could in principle lead these conceptual transformations effectively, if it made the necessary transitions in its own practices. It is also for society itself to recognize this strategic potential and transform design practices and associated ecosystems to serve its purpose.

The inaugural Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit by SuperYacht Times strategically supported by Simpson Superyachts, a superyacht division of Simpson Marine Limited, is taking place in Hong Kong on the 5th and 6th of June at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel. The summit aims to develop the Asian #superyacht market in a bid to attract more #yachts to the region and we are now able to share the initial topics alongside some of the first speakers. A panel discussion with a number of local brokerage experts is now officially announced, with panelists discussing the most important topics around the sale of #superyachts in the Asian markets. The panel will cover topics such as; the current state of the market, how it has developed over the past decade, the potential of the region and its individual countries, the owners and what needs to change – among other topics. Excited to share insights from our recent Athennian CX Summit! 🚀 Last week, our Customer Experience team gathered in Florida, with some joining in-person and others virtually, from around 11 locations across North America. Here are some key takeaways: 🎯 Aligned Priorities: We had a task to pinpoint the most pressing challenge facing our department and propose solutions. Surprisingly, without any prior communication between different teams, we all independently identified the same challenge during our presentation time. This synchronized alignment allowed us to hit the ground running, and we immediately jumped into solutions. Had this been conducted virtually, the process could have stretched over a couple of months as we navigated the complexities of aligning the perspectives of more than 20 individuals. 👥 In-Person Collaboration: While I appreciate the conveniences that new technologies offer for virtual connections, nothing quite compares to the experience of building relationships in person. The summit provided an amazing opportunity to connect with colleagues face-to-face, meet new faces and engage in real, meaningful conversations. We showed how easy it is to fix a problem when multiple people jump to help, bringing diverse perspectives. But also, meeting someone in person allows you to connect on a personal level, not just as colleagues, but as friends too. 🤝 💼 Employee Experience (EX): Early this year for the first time I heard about the official correlation between CX & EX and how valuable it is. Understanding how the satisfaction and engagement of our employees directly influence the experiences of our customers has fundamentally shifted my perspective. It shows how important it is the prioritization of EX initiatives alongside CX efforts, recognizing that a positive employee experience lays the foundation for exceptional customer experiences.
