Mexican fintech Cometa raises a $12 million funding round to expand its presence in Mexico #Cometa, the #fintech platform specializing in revenue management for educational institutions in Mexico, has closed a $12 million Series A funding round led by Reach Capital. Founded in 2022 by Andrés Benavides, Valeria Tapia Cavassa, Mateo Creamer, and Gonzalo Gallardo, all Stanford University alumni, Cometa aims to streamline school administration through technology, enabling private schools at the primary level to focus on their educational mission. This funding will allow Cometa to expand its offerings beyond #debt collection management, incorporating new tools to help schools maximize revenue and attract more students. In its first 2022-2023 school year, Cometa grew from serving just two schools to over 350 across Mexico, driven largely by client recommendations and organic growth. Support from Reach Capital reinforces Cometa’s vision to transform the educational sector in Mexico, with plans to expand to other Latin American countries, including Colombia and Argentina, in the next two years. Since its initial $5 million funding round led by KASZEK Ventures, Cometa has added innovative features, such as online stores for uniform and school product sales. As the education sector shows signs of recovery post-pandemic, Cometa is strengthening its local market position and innovating, aiming to reach 1,200 schools by 2026. The platform seeks to redefine educational administration in the region by bringing efficiency and modernization to a sector increasingly in need of digitalization and organization in its daily operations.
