The piece featured one of our brilliant portfolio clients, Habito, as a fintech making a positive impact by "broadening access to affordable housing and finance". Anyone who has filled out a mortgage application is familiar with the eye-glazing stack of paperwork that informs the bank about the current state of your finances. Companies too wrestle with this sort of paperwork, and that’s especially the case with firms that make heavy use of credit, which obliges them to keep track of mounds of financial data on an ongoing basis. For the most part, they do this by passing massive Excel sheets back and forth, a tedious and labor intensive process. One startup, though, thinks it has cracked the code on how to streamline these tasks. On Tuesday, Austin-based Setpoint announced it has raised a $31 million Series B round, which was led by 645 Ventures and included significant strategic investments from Citi and Wells Fargo. US based Aven raises a $142 million Series D funding round #Aven, a #fintech company revolutionizing the consumer credit card industry, has successfully raised $142 million in a Series D funding round. The round was spearheaded by prominent investors Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst, with significant participation from existing backers such as Caffeinated Capital, Electric Capital, Founders Fund, and The General Partnership. Founded in 2019 by former Facebook and Square executives Sadi Khan, Collin Wikman, and Murtada Shah, Aven is on a mission to provide consumers with low-cost, asset-backed credit options. Their flagship product, the Home Card, leverages home equity to offer credit, positioning itself as a cost-effective and convenient alternative to traditional unsecured credit cards. Co-founder and CEO Sadi Khan emphasizes Aven's vision, stating, "We believe there’s no reason for anyone who owns an asset and has a good credit history to use unsecured credit. Full stop. Unsecured credit is expensive and unhealthy." By tapping into the equity of owned assets, Aven aims to save consumers thousands of dollars while maintaining convenience. The recent influx of capital will enable Aven to expand the availability of its Home Card to all 50 states, scale its Advisor platform, and venture into new product categories such as auto-backed cards and mortgage refinancing. Currently, Aven's services are accessible in 33 states, with a goal to cover the entire U.S. by 2025. Vinod Khosla of Khosla Ventures highlighted the company's innovative approach, noting, "By using technology to drive efficiency, Aven has built a product that responsibly helps drive down the cost of capital by over 50% for most U.S. homeowners who are using alternative credit cards." In addition to its financial growth, Aven is forming an advisory board to guide its expansion and safeguard the interests of its cardholders. Kevin Harsh of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, who will be joining the advisory board, expressed his confidence in the company, stating, "The Aven team is proving the skeptics wrong in a big way.
