History is too selective and bias to study such a broad concept as Human nature. It is not that human nature does not exist the deep question(s) seem elusive.
An example: Baseball fans in Japan are estimated over 21. 1 million,Baseball fans in the United States are estimated as 170 million. Asking the question what is the human nature of the Average Baseball fan is difficult if not impossible to solve.
When asking/studying/theorizing these simply questions about Human nature vs Human's nature one must choose wisely. Because useful probabilities and correlations at best in theory are random at worst unsystematic.
AI has a long way to solve "the theory of humans" about as long as it will take to solve " the theory of everything."
History is not the way to study human nature, as human nature itself is a misnomer—what truly exists is human potential and its unfolding. Instead, history reveals the nature of redundancy—tactical power distortions, exposing the dynamics of meaningless swarms that hinder genuine progress. By focusing on the potential for human development and understanding these power dynamics, we can better navigate towards a meaningful future.

Addendum: And beyond that, building non-human systems to assist with the study of human nature (in order to gain some semblance of "objectivity" [very naughty word--but different day]) enlightens us further.
A non-comprehensive list of the technologies we've built to manage this: language, numerous societal construct technologies, educational institutions, surveys and forms, and now AI... what better to observe our nature than that which is not by nature human, but with which we can communicate?
Get ready to learn a lot about ourselves.
The "good", the "bad", and the less-than-desirable.
We may not be who we think we are, we may just be _reflecting_ painful biology in the form of patriarchal violence and dominion, because _that's_ what we are in some nature, reflectors.
Well, if you want to know the ways of being, how they behave, make decisions, say specific words, and try to relate to each other from their different worldviews, you can put them all down and find them in the creases of history!
You may recognize the inexplicable attachments you felt yesterday, the outburst you met the day before, or the idea that, out of nowhere, sprang into your mind. You continued thinking for several hours straight and found no solution. Didn't know what to do with it, but you forgot what sparked the idea in the first place! We usually make our patterns of randomness based on evidence-based findings, even though counterexamples exist and may happen in real life.
If you look deeper into the historical wireframing's, or, let’s say, writings, and understand our human biases, you will almost certainly find the presence of representative heuristics in every guesswork human made, the blueprints they created that eventually later on, made no sense, speaking in terms of probabilistic models.
One of the main reasons for this, I guess, is that history does not make you a film, instead, it gives you pictures and photographs from which you can choose at random. But if you look a bit deeper and get to feel the wider picture of the surface, it will be a blessing to be able to break beyond your mental models of randomness and appreciate how views and outcomes change with the course of time.
Another fun fact, perhaps you can get power from the stories!!! If we humans have ever invented a weapon that is both phenomenal and powerful, it is the stories of presence, experience, emotional interactions, and their parts of the story during periods when they were not present.
