𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 !!!! 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐀𝐅 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, Many of you may not be fully aware of the current situation in firms regarding induction processes. Here is the reality: Approximately 70% to 80% of trainees are hired based on merit rather than through #references. The main concern is students' mindsets. Many only apply to the top 10 firms instead of considering their own interests and priorities in terms of qualifications, environment, and the skills they wish to develop. Students often fail to plan the time needed to qualify. They are in a rush to join the top 10 firms and end up getting stuck. However, they could join firms that offer bookkeeping, advisory, tax, and other such services to local and offshore clients. It is crucial to plan for the skills you want to acquire for your future career, as these skills will be your most important asset. The scope of audit work is expected to change soon, so plan accordingly. One significant issue is the poor drafting of CVs and applying through inappropriate channels without understanding the culture of the firms. Many students apply by merely expressing their enthusiasm instead of researching the respective firm's expertise and aligning their skills accordingly. For example, if you are applying for an audit position, highlighting your skills in bookkeeping software may not be beneficial (though it could help you in the long run for accounting purposes). There are many other points to consider, but the key takeaway is to change the mindset that everything depends on references. Learn how to effectively showcase your skills and sell yourself. #CAStudents #ICAP #CAFStudents #CareerPlanning #SkillsDevelopment #Audit #Bookkeeping #Advisory #Tax #MeritBasedHiring #ProfessionalGrowth #CVWriting #FirmCulture #CAF #Articleship #Trainee #Induction

You’ve heard of Accountants. Perhaps you’ve heard that it’s a ‘boring’ career. We’re here to assure you that it’s not…and to let you know exactly what an Accountant is. “Accounting is the quantification and communication of both financial and non-financial information concerning economic organisations, such as corporations.” OK…let’s break that down. 📈Accounting involves tracking and recording finances to keep track of the money coming in and out of a company. 💸This enables companies to gain insight and understanding of their spending, and to be clear on where their money is going. 👨💼An Accountant is a professional who carries out all these tasks and is also responsible for other jobs such as ensuring that financial data is recorded correctly and generating reports to represent this data in a way that makes it clearer for businesses to understand and interpret. ✅A company won’t survive if it’s not profitable. So, we think Accountants are pretty important!
