These 6 themes are also essential for healthcare/biotech/medtech startups, but must be adapted according to the context. An important point is to clearly identify the problem you want to solve: having what they think is a great solution is the starting point of many early-stage biotech/medtech companies, but many of them have not clearly identified the problem they want to solve... If the patient has to be considered at the center, to define the TA(s) and clinical indication(s) of the product, of course, it is probably more important to clearly understand who is going to buy the product and pay for it ... Most often, the patient is not the 'end-customer'... Many drugs/devices are approved but not reimbursed, and are therefore not profitable. In this regard, it has to be considered that even a well-documented unmet medical need doesn't always correspond to a profitable market. How to scale the business and defining the 'exit point' is also something to have in mind from the start, which is not the case for many academia spin-off companies.
