Here are the five lessons from Gurobi Optimization's panel on Academics Changing the World: 1. There are plenty of interesting non-profit or public sector problems. (Julie Aho, CSCP.. this is a point you've made-- I let my students know that you said this!) 2. The diet problem has interesting applications! 3. “Get data without being annoying” 4. Visualization and user interaction with the solution is important. 5. Get data from all stakeholders, not just the dominant voices.
