You love STEM? Check out Dr. Joanne Margaret Hynes-Hunter's presentation "The STREAM Evolution that EMPARTS Scientific Learning through Fun Movement Activities," on Sunday April 7 at 9:30am for STEM con and Beyond (https://stemconbeyond.com/)! Is it time to level-up our STREAM game? While STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Math) education encourages learning by engaging various parts of the brain, let's take it up a notch by adding physical activity! Many students today don’t have enough movement in their day, which can contribute to (if not cause!) behavioral challenges and health issues. Dr. Hunter proposes a holistic learning approach where the mind and body work together. It’s called EMPARTS [Engineering, Math, Physical Activity, (P.A.), (Art), Reading, Technology, Science]. In this session participants will: 1. Distinguish the difference between STREAM and EMPARTS, as well as learn how to integrate/modify the EMPARTS activities and authentic, standardized assessments presented in the turn-key handout, into existing k-12 programs. 2. Actively participate in EMPARTS labs, including the engineering of physical activity equipment and participating in the specially designed games and assessments for the equipment. 3. Evaluate learning outcomes according to National Physical Education standards. Come explore the exciting possibilities of EMPARTS to revolutionize education and promote holistic student development.

⚙️For those of you who don’t know, we recently released our mini documentary, ITS FACTORY. . . This was the genesis of the concept for the institution we dream of building: An institution dedicated to providing flexible support for BIPOC early-career creatives and social innovators—makers, designers, and social practice artists—so they can realize their big ideas. The transition from college to the professional world can feel overwhelming, as graduates often find the gap between where they are and where they want to be is immense. Many colleges focus heavily on theory and fall short in providing the real-life experience needed to thrive. Moreover, not everyone goes to college, yet BIPOC makers and aspiring creatives outside of traditional education also deserve support. This is the gap we aim to fill. Imagine if we could organize our efforts, bringing together young creatives with the support of our elders, peers, mentors, and neighbors. With a space to create and the freedom to build with our community in mind . . . ⚙️Imagine what we could build! ⚙️LINK TO THE ITS FACTORY FULL MINI DOC: https://lnkd.in/gW4Pe5DT

In the latest episode of Coffee Break, I discussed Microchip's Academic Program and its role in addressing the challenges in STEM education. With only 20% of high school graduates prepared to pursue STEM majors and nearly 40% of those students dropping out or switching fields, the gap between classroom learning and industry needs is evident. Microchip's Academic Program bridges this gap by providing educators and students with resources, hands-on tools, and real-world applications that develop essential skills for careers in embedded control solutions. By partnering with academic institutions, we are equipping the next generation of engineers with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a growing industry where STEM jobs have increased by over 30% in the past decade. To learn more about how we're shaping future professionals and supporting STEM education, watch the whole discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gCS48eyd

5th Day hot take: interdisciplinary education is ESSENTIAL for students of all ages! 🧪 STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) exploration helps students become better problem solvers, while combining logic and creativity enables students to expand their capacities and discover new talents and interests. So many of our First Quarter 5th Day courses are STEAM oriented: from STL Architecture, where students learn how to engineer beautiful buildings and planning solutions, to Video Production and Animation, where students can create original artwork by coding in blender, to Upcycle Fashion, where students must combine business sense, creativity, and technical skill to create their own clothing lines!

Proud to share how Beyond Labz is revolutionizing science education worldwide! 🚀 Our cost-effective virtual labs provide students with realistic experiments and guided activities. For instance, our Photoelectric Effect Simulation lets students explore complex phenomena without the need for expensive equipment. By aligning with common textbooks and curricula, we help institutions enhance programs, boost engagement, and improve outcomes—all while reducing costs. Let's connect to see how Beyond Labz can benefit your institution. Please share this post to spread the word!
With Beyond Labz, students at educational institutions worldwide get the best of both worlds—realistic, open-ended virtual labs and guided, step-by-step activities. For example, in the Photoelectric Effect Simulation, students can safely explore this complex phenomenon, which would be difficult to replicate in a traditional lab due to the need for specialized equipment. Our labs are aligned with common textbooks and curricula, making science learning both engaging and accessible—whether in secondary or tertiary education. Hi , I am humbled to have you follow me here. My products on Teachers Pay Teachers are varied, produced from 32 years of classroom experience, and may not have technology requirements. I continue to develop products, and hope you find something you can use. There are *Demonstrations - are great for the beginning of the year as they can give students excellent ideas and generate great discussions. They are so versatile to introduce, review, or summarize ideas. *Read Alouds-great for exploring content in context. *Lab Investigations- many that are one-off or grouped by content and designed for students to collect and process data, as well as write conclusions. They also allow students to design related experiments. *Literature Adjacent content - These investigations related to literature give students a deeper understanding of the literature and can help with comprehension of the book. Integration of literature and science can be fun! Thanks for your support, Jill STEAMWorks Consultancy https://lnkd.in/gN5t2b_f
