Smartcardia is improving Stroke care for patients across the UK & Ireland. Stroke Clinicians can now be alerted live in real-time when their patient is having an episode of AF. They can also view the Real-time ECG and see all 7 leads live (I, II, III, AVF, AVR, AVL, V1). Smartcardia patients do not have to wait for their monitors to be returned downloaded and analysed possibly several days after they had a significant episode of AF. 🔹 7-lead ECG Morphologies 🔹 Live Real-time view of remote patients' ECG 🔹 Live Real-time alerts and alarms for AF 🔹Patient posture, activity, and step counts tracking 🔹 Cloud-based analysis and viewing software accessible from any internet- connected device 🔹 Comprehensive vital signs monitoring, including SPO2, respiration, temperature, etc. Consider a scenario: 15 minutes after leaving the hospital with a traditional Holter monitor, a patient experiences a significant episode of AF, which continues for the next week. With traditional methods, you might not know about it for about 10 days. However, with Smartcardia, you can know about it as soon as it happens and even view it live. “𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍-𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆.” Contact now for a short demo. 🏥 Stroke Certification Did you know that not all hospitals have the capability of treating the most complex stroke patients? It's essential to understand the different hospital certifications related to stroke care. The Joint Commission has four hospital certifications related to stroke care: 📍 Acute Stoke Ready Hospital ✔ Equipped to stabilize stroke patients ✔ Start treatment with thrombolytics such as TPA ✔ Perform basic testing ✔ Transfer to a higher level of care if needed 📍 Primary Stroke Center ✔ Able to provide complete stroke care around the clock ✔ Dedicated stroke staff ✔ Rapid diagnostic and lab testing ✔ Post-hospital care planning and community outreach 📍 Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center ✔ Perform endovascular thrombectomy (clot retrieval) procedures ✔ Must have staff available to perform thrombectomy procedures and do the post-procedure care ✔ All of the capabilities of a Primary Stroke Center 📍 Comprehensive Stoke Center ✔ Highest level of stroke care ✔ Must meet all of the criteria for Primary Stoke Center and Thrombectomy- Capable Stroke Center ✔ Have advanced imaging and 24/7 availability of specialized treatments ✔ Participate in research I have seen several cases in which patients did not have access to care, which could have saved their lives because they lived in a rural area with limited access to care. Do you know how far the nearest Comprehensive Stoke Center is? As someone who has worked in neurocritical care, I make it a habit to familiarize myself with local hospitals wherever I go. See link in comments for a detailed comparison of different levels of stroke certification. This is truly groundbreaking research for heart health and preventive care. As someone who has witnessed in-person care barriers, I'm impressed by how patients (yes, even 90+ year-olds are using Recora) have taken to virtual care. It's exciting to think about the potential impact on millions of lives. Virtual care can also better visualize a patient's home context to identify health hazards or reinforce positive practices in the home environment. We've picked up on things like cellulitis, unsafe domestic situations, and food security issues, too!
Milestone day for Recora and heart disease! 🙂 Today, we announce that researchers demonstrated how Recora’s virtual cardiac rehab dramatically improves readmissions and drives cost savings – even beyond in-person. This is the first study of its kind, and it validates what we’ve known all along: access, technology, and timely delivery translates to cost-effective outcomes. 1 in 3 people die of heart disease. But it’s not the first event that kills you. It’s the second, third, or fourth. This is why cardiac rehab is the standard of care for patients – but barriers to access mean <10% of people complete rehab. We set out to prove that virtual care could solve this access problem and be on par with in-person care. This study shows our outcomes are even better! Now, it’s time for phase 2 – ensuring that every hospital, physician, and patient in the US has access to Recora – even increasing life expectancy. Our mission is to empower everyone to live a long, full and optimal life – if that resonates with you, join us! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/ev9qDPkC #HealthTech #CardiacCare #DigitalHealth #FutureOfMedicine

ARH NEWS RELEASE: Paintsville ARH Hospital Receives Acute Stroke Ready Center Certification from DNV Paintsville ARH Hospital announces that it has received certification from DNV as an Acute Stroke Ready Center, affirming the hospital’s readiness to handle strokes and stroke-related medical problems. The advantage of an Acute Stroke Ready certified program is that these stroke centers usually serve communities where access to a larger, more equipped hospital is too far for patients to reach in limited time. We know that Time is Brain; the faster a patient can get to a certified stroke center, the faster the patient will be diagnosed and treated. Saving this valuable time is known to decrease complications of a stroke. “This certification assures our community that we have the resources and commitment to provide the best possible stroke care,” says Paintsville ARH Hospital CEO Kathy Stumbo. “It’s a combination of the right equipment, personnel, and training to quickly assess, identify and treat stroke. This includes the ability to efficiently transfer patients in the instances they require treatment beyond our capabilities. Achieving certification validates the tremendous effort we have put into this program, ensuring the health and safety of our patients.” Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/ewBYEXye

Recora just catapulted cardiac rehab into the modern era! Congratulations to Recora and Abhishek Chandra on the ground breaking research they just revealed. Read all of the details in Abhishek Chandra's post here: https://lnkd.in/dzBKd8pS Recora is expanding access to older, sicker and more diverse populations who have historically had trouble engaging in rehab after cardiac events. Their study demonstrates that Recora's virtual care even outperforms traditional medical center-based rehab. The data from this study will act as the catalyst for nationwide adoption of virtual cardiac rehab, increasing life expectancies and saving lives. This is a massive step forward!

This #ResearchBreakdown is from Saragih et al. (2024) who reviewed translational care after stroke, which is the care and services that are provided to stroke survivors and their families as they transition from hospital care to care at home. In the context of this review, conventional care refers to the therapies traditionally offered by healthcare professionals after stroke (like physio) while translational care refers to early rehab programs, home visits, and management from interdisciplinary teams to give extra support and individualised care. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ecjcqqCR Saragih et al. (2024) found that the recommendations for translational care for physical/motor function and walking ability varied significantly and that the availability, cost, duration, and intensity of care programs varied significantly. Interestingly, this review remarked that, there was little difference in physical ability and walking speed between conventional therapy and translational care, but there was a minor improvement with activities of daily living with the addition of translational care. Finally, they found that carers expressed a lower rate of burden and guilt surrounding stroke care with increased participation in translational care. Ultimately, this study shows the emphasis needed on comprehensive care plans and the need for all AHPs and clinicians to be involved in ensuring patients and families are prepared for life after stroke.

Video streaming from ambulance can be life-changing for acute stroke patients Take part in Chalmers' Press Release (2024-10-03) about the project ViPHS - Video Support in the Prehospital Stroke Chain. In ViPHS, video between an ambulance and a neurologist expert at a hospital is used to enable faster decisions and transport to the "right" hospital of stroke patients current for thrombectomy. This treatment can only be given at a few hospitals such as university hospitals, and the project's goal is to avoid a "stopover" in another hospital for the "right" patients before thrombectomy treatment can be given. Time to treatment is a critical factor. A one-hour delay is estimated to halve the effect, and the time gain with ViPHS is estimated to be at least 1 hour. ViPHS has been tested in full-scale simulations and clinical pilot. Read more in the press release. https://lnkd.in/dEE6-ySR Here is also a link to Swedish TV news on ViPHS as a result of the PR: https://lnkd.in/dbSyKFMK #stroke #eHealth #Digital_Health #thrombectomy Stefan Candefjord Hanna Maurin Söderholm Magnus Andersson Hagiwara Annika Nordanstig Lars Rosengren
