Excellent, albeit worrisome observations, from Heather. "Mining has suffered even greater production losses than electricity, despite the acknowledged need for Canada, as the world’s second-largest country and a key NATO ally, to ramp up critical minerals production in order to reduce Chinese dominance in global mineral production, processing, and clean technology manufacturing. Far from being a leading mining nation, Canada now ranks just 8th globally in mineral production by volume. Between 2018–2022, Canadian critical minerals production atrophied, with nickel, cobalt, lithium, uranium, zinc, lead and platinum all posting double digit declines (see Table 1)."

Given that many of the Advanced ‘critical’ Mineral exploration projects are at the resources stage (to Pre-feasibility), it will be interesting to see if these deposits will become economic (positive Feasibility, Mineral Reserves) to reverse this trend. Canada/Ontario may be putting the ‘cart before the horse’ if we can’t provide lithium, nickel ,etc to Honda, Stellantis and other battery plants moving forward.

Canada is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Businesses are expected to align their practices with this goal, reducing their carbon footprint and transitioning to more sustainable operations. Given the importance of the natural resource sector in Canada (mining, oil, and gas), ESG factors, particularly environmental sustainability, are heavily scrutinized. Companies must navigate pressures for cleaner energy and responsible resource extraction. ESG is increasingly shaping corporate strategy, investor expectations, and regulatory frameworks in Canada. Companies are expected to improve their environmental impact, foster positive social outcomes, and ensure strong governance practices. #ESG #sustainablebusiness #impact #positivechange #community #livinggreentogether #rentalhousing #canada

🚀 Australia Boosts Critical Minerals, Eyes Economic Independence 🚀 The upcoming Australian budget reveals a strategic push to invigorate the critical minerals sector and strengthen our economic foundations. This move aims to position Australia at the forefront of the global green energy transition, reducing reliance on international supplies, and bolstering our local industries, especially in essential battery materials. The 'Future Made in Australia' program will attract private investment through savvy tax breaks and grants, enhancing our appeal as a premier investment destination with vast resources and strong industrial capabilities. While details are still under wraps, this plan builds on the existing A$566 million investment in mineral exploration, aiming for sustainable growth and self-sufficiency. As we navigate global economic challenges, this budget shapes Australia's role in the clean energy narrative, aspiring for rapid, eco-friendly, and autonomous progress. "We better get cracking," says the Treasurer, as Australia sets its sights on a robust, self-reliant future. #Australia #GreenEnergy #EconomicGrowth
