Company values are essential as they serve as the guiding principles that shape the culture and behavior within an organisation. These values help establish the identity of the company, influencing decision-making processes, employee actions, and overall organisational strategy. By defining values, companies create a common understanding of what is important and what is expected from everyone involved. This, in turn, helps to foster a positive work environment, improve teamwork, and drive the company towards its goals and objectives. Additionally, strong company values can attract like-minded employees, enhance customer loyalty, and contribute to long-term success and sustainability.

You know what’s hot? Transparency. You know what’s not hot? Not being transparent. In this video, one of the all time greats breaks down what is, in the spirit of the game, cheating. He gets a ball that he knows will be an unfair advantage and maximizes the situation. The level of transparency is astounding. Notice how effortless it all is. Zero judgment from the interviewer and audience. In fact, we’re fascinated by the story and honesty. Many pitchers would not have been as forthcoming so not to tarnish their legacy. How do I know? Because I see people on a daily basis avoid accountability. In sports. In life. In business. Apply this to the workplace and accounting ethics. Apply good judgment and be free of judgment. Once you start manipulating the financial statements and committing unethical behavior, you are forever forced into unnatural defensive positions. Receipts aren’t provided. Controls not followed. Explanations are cloudy. Employees are forced to lie for management’s poor decisions. It’s a waterfall of compromised integrity. Management has no regards for their employees’ conscience.
