🧬 Ever wonder how your body's trillions of cells communicate? It's like a microscopic social network, but way more efficient. Welcome to the world of cell signaling. Here's the lowdown: 1. Cells talk through chemical messengers 2. These messengers trigger specific responses 3. It's how your body coordinates... everything 🔬 The science is mind-blowing: • Your body has over 200 types of cells • They exchange up to 100,000 signals per second • This happens across 37 trillion cells in your body That's more signals per day than all internet traffic combined! But why does this matter? Cell signaling: • Regulates growth • Controls immune responses • Manages metabolism • Coordinates organ function 🩺 Here's where it gets real: Disruptions in cell signaling are linked to: • 60% of all cancers • 30-50% of autoimmune diseases • Numerous metabolic disorders The good news? Understanding cell signaling has led to breakthroughs in health and wellness. It’s not just about living longer, it’s about living BETTER! 💡 Key takeaway: Your cells are constantly chatting, keeping you alive and well. Next time you feel "in sync," thank your cellular communication network! Curious to learn more about this microscopic marvel? Drop a 🦠 in the comments!

Longevity investment hits $3.01 B according to Longevity.Technology’s 2023 annual investment report. This highlights the growing interest and resilience in the longevity industry, despite overall market challenges – with significant advancements expected in the future: https://lnkd.in/dsMeKQhN In a recent The Times article, Eric Schmidt, former CEO & Chairman of Google, discusses the transformative potential of biotechnology, emphasizing the critical intersection of AI and biotech, and the opportunity for biotech’s “ChatGPT moment,”: https://lnkd.in/g2EKGfC5 A study in Nature Portfolio Aging shows that reintroducing reprogramming transcription factors in aged mice enhances neuroblast production, restoring younger cellular profiles and improving brain function: https://lnkd.in/enMUYzsd Another study found that small extracellular vesicles from young mice can reverse aging-related declines in older mice by boosting mitochondrial energy metabolism, extending lifespan, improving physiological functions, and stimulating PGC-1α expression crucial for energy production: https://lnkd.in/eCkz4zxb #ICYDK #ApolloVC #Lifespan #Healthspan #Longevity #VentureCapital

Neural plasticity, by which the brain 🧠 varies its structure, is crucial in its responses to stimuli. Researches found this characteristic of the brain relates to epigenetic (heritable changes in the cell, which have a direct influence on gene expression without altering the DNA sequence) as shown in the figure. These heritable changes are influenced by different factors including diet, microbiota, physical activities, environmental pollutants, stress, etc. consequently, these affect structurally and functionally organization of the brain. In other words this affects the intelligence development in children or alter adults ability to learn and memorize. Actually, since natural and social environments of the world vary from regions to regions and our biological systems react differently to stimuli, does this explain the differences in humans IQ? https://lnkd.in/e2mxWt2P

What happened to a pig's dead brain after its vasculature was connected to tubes and a special cocktail of preserving agents was pumped into its blood vessels? The cortex turned from grey to pink. Brain cells started producing proteins. Neurons juddered back to life, displaying signs of metabolic activity indistinguishable from that of living cells. Basic cellular functions, activities that were supposed to irreversibly cease after blood flow stopped, were restored. ___________________________________________________________________ https://lnkd.in/g9srCxgZ
