But Could Delhi Have Been Better for Chess Glory? In chess, where strategy and foresight reign supreme, the choice of venue for the World Chess Championship isn't merely logistical—it's a statement that resonates across borders and cultures. The recent decision to host the championship in Singapore, albeit strategic, prompts a reflection on the potential of Delhi, India's vibrant capital, as an equally fitting host with a broader global appeal. Delhi and Chennai emerged as formidable contenders to host the prestigious World Chess Championship. Chennai, renowned as the hometown of young chess prodigy Gukesh D, garnered support from the Tamil Nadu state government. Meanwhile, Delhi, backed by India's central government, stood out with its rich cultural heritage and extensive global connectivity. Emil Sutovsky, FIDE CEO, underscored, “Neutrality was a decisive factor. Singapore presented a balanced platform for fair competition.” However, Delhi’s bid promised not just neutrality but also a chance to showcase chess’s universal appeal amidst its iconic landmarks and cultural diversity. Looking Ahead- India’s Chess Future While Singapore’s selection is a testament to neutrality and Southeast Asia’s chess heritage, it’s heartening to note FIDE’s plans for a major event in India in 2025. India, a chess powerhouse, continues to inspire young players globally. As we anticipate future tournaments, Delhi’s bid may not have succeeded this time, but its potential as a host city remains undeniable. It is a beacon for showcasing India’s passion for chess and its ability to host world-class events on par with any global metropolis. Let's continue championing chess's universal appeal and advocate for future #tournaments that bridge cultures and show international sportsmanship. Let’s watch as Gukesh D and Ding Liren make history on this neutral ground, and may their games inspire us all. Follow the games, support the #players, and immerse yourself in the #chess culture. #SRCA #Checkmatesrcastyle #chess #chess2024 #grandmaster #chessknowledge

An Exciting Year for Chess Fans Worldwide! As an ardent chess follower and having participated in a few tournaments myself, this year feels special, almost transformative. Post-pandemic, the chess world has shifted, and we now have Ding Liren, the first-ever Chinese World Champion, at the top, although Magnus Carlsen, the GOAT, remains a towering presence in the chess universe. But what’s really thrilling is the rise of Gukesh D, India’s chess prodigy, who has climbed the ranks with incredible speed and is now ready to take on Ding for the 2024 World Chess Championship. While it would have been legendary to see Gukesh face Magnus, this upcoming battle promises to be just as epic. The match is set to showcase a fascinating clash of styles—Ding’s calm and strategic precision versus Gukesh’s daring, aggressive tactics. Expect dynamic, high-stakes games where Gukesh’s sharp openings will push Ding into unfamiliar and uncomfortable positions, testing the reigning champion's resolve. This match isn't just about two players; it represents a possible changing of the guard. A win for Gukesh would signal the arrival of a new generation of chess talent and solidify India’s growing prominence on the world stage. As an Indian chess fan, I can’t wait to witness history in the making! Easy yet solid Future Prediction - Gukesh will be the new world champion. #Chess #WorldChessChampionship #Gukesh #DingLiren #FutureOfChess #India #ChessProdigy #FIDE

7.2 million matches in just 24 hours!! 📈 This incredible number highlights the surge in chess's global popularity over the past few years. More people are playing and promoting the game every day. 🏅These achievements are partly due to the increasing acceptance of chess as a viable career path among Indian parents. They are inspired by prodigies like R. Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, and D. Gukesh, who are all in the world's Top-10 players as teenagers. Gukesh, who recently won one of the world's most difficult tournaments, will challenge the current world champion in Singapore 🇸🇬 this November at the age of just 18 years! Also a huge thanks to the influencers like Sagar Shah, standup comedian Samay Raina, Levy Rozman aka Gotham Chess, Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamurah etc etc, for their significant role in promoting chess. Their impact is evident in the increased viewership of chess-related content on YouTube 💻, with many young kids learning the game just by watching influencers play. In the coming years, India 🇮🇳 is poised to become a chess superpower 🦸 , driven by the momentum we've witnessed recently, making this industry even more attractive. We can already see companies like Tata sponsoring chess events and Adani sponsoring players such as Praggnanandhaa. It's clear that many big players will find this industry lucrative, and it is set to boom in the next few years 📈
❤️We are feeling honoured to receive the certificate of Guinness World Record for most number of chess games played in 24 hours on 20th July, on the occasion of #Worldchessday and 100th anniversary of World Chess Federation (FIDE). We became a part of this by conducting 2 over-the-board tournaments in #Udaipur, where more than 100+ players participated and gave their contribution in making the World Record. Over 7.2 million matches were played with 75000 over-the-board and rest were across online platforms, which shows the worldwide craze for the game. #India itself contributed to 9,397 over-the-board matches, behind #SriLanka with 9,848 games. Kudos to all the chess fans for the Guinness World Record!📃
