One of the most valuable lessons I took away from today's Black Business Market was the importance of knowing your worth as a Black woman or individual ✨. It was truly wonderful to see people who look like me helping each other thrive in the fields we aspire to be in. The conversations I had with Faustina Kamara and Stantara De Freitas were incredibly inspiring and a real eye-opener. Emphasising the importance of never devaluing ourselves—whether as Black individuals looking to own our own businesses or those striving to thrive in different industries. If there’s one thing I learned today, it’s to 'know your worth' and to never lower your standards or value just to fit into a room 💪🏾. Be confident in what you offer, stand firm in it, and let that confidence lead the way to success 🌟.

When we, as Black South Africans, are able to harness our collective financial power, we could witness transformative shifts across our economic, political, and social structures. This unity would enhance our ability to address historical disparities and build a fairer future for our communities. However, achieving this is no small feat. We face significant challenges, including income disparities, limited access to capital, and systemic barriers that have long held us back. Overcoming these issues requires a concerted effort and collaboration among individuals, organisations, and policymakers. Though it might sometimes feel like this goal is out of reach, I genuinely yearn to see how we could achieve significant advancements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and our overall quality of life. Such economic empowerment can build our resilience and spark broader social and political changes, reducing our dependence on external systems and fostering internal development.
