Is 99% good enough for our organizations? The recent Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in F1 showcased just how tiny margins can make all the difference. With Hamilton just 1% behind the leader in almost 1.5 hours, they nearly missed out on points (9th place). When looking at the results and seeing the differences as percentages, the margins are so small in a race dominated by Redbull. This got me thinking about the sigma level of a process, where 3 sigma level represents 99.73% meeting customer requirements. While we can say it is good enough, it really depends on the domain and many other aspects. For some areas like healthcare or aeronautics, it's not enough.
