Today at Menulog HQ we were excited to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (AKA Moon Festival). It’s a time to celebrate peace, harmony and friendship, wishing each other good luck and good health. To mark the occasion, Menulog’s Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging Committee organised a special morning tea of moon cakes, mochi and tea, while Menulogger Kumi demonstrated the art of Chinese calligraphy, with traditional Chinese characters that are significant to the Moon Festival.

Yesterday, during China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, my favorite actress Tong Liya performed a beautiful scene at the Shanghai Museum, where Egypt’s cat goddess met China’s moon goddess, Jade Rabbit. Through moments of papermaking, ancient games, classical dancing and even a playful competition for the moon, we saw how Egyptian and Chinese civilizations—though separated by distance—share common wisdom and creativity. 🌍It was a powerful reminder that civilization knows no borders, and mutual understanding is key to our shared future.✨ Today, our world faces many challenges, and peace can feel distant. Yet, it remains the core desire for most of us. As we rebuild global connections—whether through initiatives like the Silk Road or modern trade—we have the opportunity to create a future of harmony, prosperity, and cooperation for all. No matter where we come from—Africa, the Americas, Europe, or Asia—our diversity can be a source of strength. By embracing mutual respect and understanding, we can build a world where differences unite us, and peace guides us forward. I'm pleased working as a cross-cultural person. Despite business, I do wish we can create a brighter, more harmonious future for everyone. 🌕 #UnityInDiversity #MutualUnderstanding #GlobalPeace #SharedFuture #MidAutumnFestival #CulturalExchange

Do you know why we celebrate Holi? 🏝 Let's find out the story behind this wonderful festival. The Origins of Holi: Long ago, there was a mischievous boy named Krishna. He loved playing pranks with colored powders on his friends, especially Radha and other village girls. This playful act became the essence of Holi, a festival where we smear each other with colors to spread joy and laughter. Another story is about a boy named Prahlad who was devoted to Lord Vishnu. He faced many challenges, but his faith saved him from harm. His story teaches us about the triumph of good over evil, which we celebrate during Holi. Rituals and Traditions: Holi begins with Holika Dahan, where we light bonfires to remember the victory of good over evil. The next day, Rangwali Holi, is when the real fun starts! We throw colored powders and water at each other, dance to lively music, and enjoy delicious sweets like gujiya and thandai. The Universal Message of Holi: Holi is not just about colors and sweets. It's about coming together as a community, forgiving each other, and spreading love. No matter who you are or where you come from, Holi welcomes everyone with open arms. It reminds us to let go of negativity and embrace the beauty of life. Conclusion: Holi is a time for laughter, love, and togetherness. Its stories and traditions have been passed down through generations, bringing people closer and spreading happiness. So, let's celebrate Holi with enthusiasm, sharing the joy of colors and the warmth of friendship. The 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 celebrated this year on 10 June. It commemorates the life and death of the famous poet and minister 𝐐𝐮 𝐘𝐮𝐚𝐧, who lived during the Warring States period. The festival is marked by various cultural customs and activities. Three Traditions Associated with the Dragon Boat Festival: 1. 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠: Teams paddle elaborately decorated dragon boats in races, symbolizing the search for Qu Yuan's body after he drowned himself in the Miluo River. 2. 𝐄𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐳𝐢: People prepare and eat zongzi, which are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. This tradition originated from the villagers who threw rice into the river to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan’s body. 3. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐠𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭: These plants are hung on doors and windows to ward off evil spirits and disease, reflecting ancient beliefs in their protective qualities during the early summer season when the festival takes place.
