California farmworkers are one of the most vulnerable populations in California. They are 3x less likely to have health coverage than the general population. Of the farmworkers with health coverage, around 54% depend on Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program, which includes both restricted and full-scope coverage. California farmworkers, who rely on Medi-Cal for health insurance, often confront significant barriers in accessing care. Despite the wide range of services and affordability offered by Medi-Cal, the existing delivery system needs to address inherent workforce deficiencies that hinder fair access to care. Read ITUP's Issue Brief to learn more about the options to increase coverage and improve health care access for farmworkers. #Farmworkers #HealthEquity #CaliforniaHealth #Healthpolicy
California's ongoing efforts for better health should include crucial policy changes benefiting California #farmworkers and their families. Discover more in ITUP's Issue Brief! #HealthEquity #CaliforniaHealth https://lnkd.in/gesiHXSZ

Have you ever considered how the forced disappearance of a family member could affect your health? 🤔 🌎 Across the globe, countless families endure unimaginable pain and suffering due to the forced disappearance of their loved ones. Yet, the health implications of this human rights violation often go unrecognized. Let's delve into the profound impact of forced disappearances on health and why it's crucial to address this issue by examining the Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos Corte IDH 's rullings: 👩⚖️ The court emphasizes health measures in reparations, ensuring access to medical, psychological, and specialized treatments. 👨⚖️ Beyond traditional care, the court supports alternative healing practices, like those of indigenous communities, as seen in the Miembros de la aldea Chichupac case. 👩⚖️ Guarantees of non-repetition, including standardized investigation protocols and access to public archives, are crucial for preventing future violations. 👨⚖️ Implementation across government branches remains a challenge. Judicial openness and institutional reforms are essential for effective action. 👩⚖️ Integrating technology and scientific advancements into court decisions is vital. Addressing social security and labor rights in disappearance cases requires ongoing attention. Forced disappearances still happen today, leaving countless victims behind. It's time to break the silence. Let justice prevail. #HumanRights #LegalJustice #HealthcareRights #healthlaw #internationalcriminallaw 🇺🇸 Hi, I'm Elena, a health, food and environmental lawyer with a passion for bioethics! Today, March 1, is Zero Discrimination Day, and this year’s theme, “To protect everyone’s health, protect everyone’s rights,” serves as an important reminder that upholding human rights is crucial for safeguarding public health. Human rights challenges, including stigma and discrimination, inequality and violence against women and girls, denial of sexual and reproductive health and rights, misuse of criminal law, and punitive approaches, remain among the main barriers to effective HIV responses. We must protect everyone’s rights to protect everyone’s health! #ZeroDiscriminationDay #EndStigma #EndDiscrimination #GlobalPartnership
This #ZeroDiscriminationDay, remember, Rights = Health. Every individual deserves access to healthcare without fear of discrimination. Let's stand together to ensure equal rights for all. To protect everyone’s health, protect everyone’s rights.
