Your brain only has so much bandwidth. The more tasks you leave undone & the more problems you leave unsolved, the more cognitive load you have & the less space that's left for what you're doing, ruining quality & focus If you want to be effective, reduce your cognitive load. Nap time! Thanks Tracy Brower, PhD for the encouragement and stats. I think the recommendation to take short naps also reduces post-nap grogginess, a personal napping obstacle as well as one I hear from others. #stress #stressmanagement #anxiety #anxietyrelief #mentalhealth #sleep #napping

🥢 It takes more than 50 muscles to use chopsticks. 🥡 According to Harrison Ritz at Brown University’s Carney Institute for Brain Science, the brain requires similar coordination to control attention and focus. (See the link in the comments section.) One of the most important skills I use to "get things done" is deep focus. My productivity skyrockets under the spell of deep focus (often described as psychological flow or runner's high). How to get there: 1/ Work in a private place with minimal people distractions (my office with closed doors is my favorite). 2/ Turn off all desk and mobile notifications. 3/ Start with a task and stay there until finished or fatigued (it's okay to take a short break every hour). No multi-tasking. No doom scrolling. No email checking. No air pods. No alcohol. No-body but me. Just a deep focus with a happy dance upon completion (often with chocolate and rock music). ❓ How do you get into a state of deep focus? #DeepFocusIsMySuperpower #DistractionsSuck #LevelUpWithDenny
