Mens Talk AU were featured in The West Australian today with other WA men's groups who are working towards building Positive Masculinity in the community. These groups across our communities are standing up to take on one of the most challenging issues of our time: Family and Domestic Violence (FDV). Amid a tide of negativity toward masculinity, these groups are proving that men can lead with accountability, empathy, and strength to drive positive change. The work being done isn’t easy, but it’s vital. Men are engaging in honest conversations, challenging harmful behaviours, and redefining what healthy masculinity looks like. They’re creating safe spaces for self-reflection, offering support to one another, and working collaboratively to break cycles of violence. This is about more than just addressing the symptoms of FDV; it’s about prevention and creating cultural change. It’s about showing that men have the power to be allies in creating safer homes and communities for everyone. Let’s celebrate these efforts and recognise the courage it takes to confront such a complex issue head-on. By supporting men who are committed to making a difference, we can help shift the narrative and build a future where respect, equality, and accountability are the norm. Together, we are stronger. Together, we can create lasting change. Mental Health Commission of Western Australia, Australian Men's Health Forum #MensHealth #FDVPrevention #PositiveMasculinity #CommunityLeadership

During #LonelinessAwarenessWeek we're calling for a new perspective on #loneliness. The groups in society already the most marginalised, excluded and discriminated against - are also more likely to experience loneliness. Our Loneliness Inequalities Evidence Review clearly shows the root causes of loneliness are not the fault of individuals - and limited public resources could be better spent if loneliness is understood and addressed through the lens of inequalities. The report shows that interpersonal exclusion, such as stigma or bullying, and difference from dominant society can directly and indirectly lead to loneliness and it also identifies six structural factors that can influence loneliness inequalities. We are actively exploring ways to put this evidence into practice to improve outcomes in Wales. We are particularly interested in learning how local authorities are addressing the issue of loneliness. 💕 Prioritising self and collective care is key for individuals and organisations researching violence against women and violence against children due to risk of both direct and vicarious trauma, and the mental-health crisis affecting academia. 🫂 Addressing self and collective care means building a culture of care where practices related to well-being can flourish and where this is conceptually understood as critical to preserving and sustaining the individuals behind the work. Some first steps include building evidence-based wellbeing programmes at work and promoting collaborative research. 💬 What is self and collective care for you and how do you implement it at your workplace? Tell us in the comments below. 📝 This is an extract from the article ‘16 Ways to Strengthen and Build Powerful Evidence on VAW’ by the SVRI for The Pixel Project. October is #MentalHealthAwareness Month and this year #MuduAdvisoryAndConsulting is also focused on educating employees of their rights in the workplace. The #ConstitutionOfSouthAfrica affords every citizen equal protection before the law. When navigating your rights as someone living with a physical or mental health condition, it is important to remember that you are a human and you have the same rights as a fully abled person, it all boils down to proof. #DifferentlyAbled #PhysicalDisability #MentalDisability #OurBloodIsGreen

Let's support our colleagues with limb differences, also known as amputees! As an amputation and Rehabilitation Clinician who also works as a healthcare administrator, I have been privileged to work closely with individuals navigating life with limb differences, here are some tips: **Do Say:** ✅️- "How can I support you?" ✅️- "You're doing a great job!" **Don't Say:** 🚫- "You're such an inspiration." (This can feel patronizing.) 🚫- "Let me do that for you." (Always ask first.) 🚫- "It will get better soon." (Avoid assumptions.) 🚫- "At least you still have another arm or leg." (Minimizing their experience.) Remember, be empathetic and inclusive. And though April was Limb Loss Awareness Month, let's keep supporting our colleagues with limb differences year-round! Together, let's create a workplace where everyone feels valued and included. **Goz** #InclusionMatters #WorkplaceEmpathy #TheBusinessOfHealthcare #Diversity
