The Illusion of Explanatory Depth Have you ever been asked to explain something you thought you knew VERY WELL only to discover in that moment that you really didn't know it? 😲 Yeah, me too and it's quite funny😂 In my first class of learning #API_testing with #Postman, my tutor Colin Decorce asked me if I knew what the internet was and how the web works. I literally scoffed 😏 and said ofcourse I do. And then he asked me to explain it to him. While I scrambled for words to explain what I thought that I knew, I realized that I didn't know as much as I thought afterall 😑 . Then this phrase "illusion of explanatory depth" came to light.💡 #Wikipedia describes it as a cognitive bias or an illusion where people tend to believe they understand a topic better than they actually do. One thing I learnt from this experience is that one should never assume that you know stuff until you can talk about it confidently or teach someone else. Sometimes, we think we know so much about a thing or subject probably because we so often use the terms when in reality we don't know as much. It's crucial to have an open mind to learning ALWAYS even things we think we know. Tell me about your experience in the comment section. 🙂 #Knowledge #Learning #IllusionofExplanatoryDepth #API_testing #Postman

Ever wondered what makes quiz questions truly effective? Here’s what worked for me - and I bet it’ll work for you too. As a professor, creating quizzes was as vital as teaching. Now, as a content developer, it’s key to learner retention. The secret? Designing clear, impactful questions! Here’s my formula: 1️⃣ Multiple-Response ↳ Specify how many options are correct. 2️⃣ Multiple-Choice ↳ Use realistic distractors. 3️⃣ Ranking/Ordering ↳ Provide clear, simple instructions. 4️⃣ Matching ↳ Keep statements short and precise. 🌟 Golden rule: Quiz questions must align with learning objectives. What’s your go-to quiz type? Share in the comments. Repost for others ♻️
