We are proud to announce that in partnership with Veolia Total Waste Management, we are on a dedicated path to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. Inspired by Veolia’s Zero-to-Landfill commitment, we've introduced new recycling stations throughout the theatre, significantly enhancing our waste management practices. We have also made significant investment in our shift to high-efficiency LED lighting, which offers both environmental and financial benefits. In an effort to reduce plastic waste, we are phasing out plastic bottled water in favour of canned alternatives that feature a resealable lid. We are also contributing to these efforts with our Environment & Sustainability team launching campaigns to promote energy conservation and recycling among employees. Reflecting on 2024, Veolia UK's commercial waste business has achieved some big things, working in partnership with our customers to meet their waste and recycling requirements and help them achieve their sustainability goals. In numbers, this translates to over 19 million collections for our customers so far in 2024, with 1.5 million tonnes of material collected. This is testament to how our partnerships are helping waste to be managed responsibly, enabling our customers to be more sustainable ♻ By supporting our approximately 62,000 commercial customers to implement the processes needed to improve recycling rates, this also means that we're helping them to prepare for the upcoming Simpler Recycling legislation, due to be introduced for businesses in March 2025. The legislation will require businesses to segregate a defined list of waste streams for recycling, and by helping organisations segregate and recycle more of their waste now, we have helped them to avoid any last-minute hassle - as well as achieving their recycling and sustainability goals.
