This week, I’ve had the opportunity to care for my mother, who is facing end-stage renal failure and several other health challenges. To be honest, I was initially afraid and overwhelmed, but this experience has turned into a blessing. Caring for her has given me a profound sense of purpose and a renewed appreciation for the full circle of life—how our parents care for us, and then we have the chance to care for them in return. This experience has opened my eyes to the importance of family and the simple, powerful act of being there for one another. In the business of life—work, school, raising children—it’s easy to lose sight of the people who mean the most to us. But being able to show my mom the same love she has always given me has been incredibly humbling and uplifting. Today, I encourage you to pause and connect with the people you love. Reach out, spend time, and let them know how much they mean to you. As a parent myself, I understand that the love we have for our children is unparalleled, and being able to give back to my mom has reminded me of what truly matters. Family is everything, and the love we share can be the greatest source of strength and joy.
This is a powerful message. Yes, our family is the most important of all -and we do need to connect and show love at all-times.😘🤗🙏🤔🙄
Well said. Being there for those who touch our hearts is what’s most important
Sending up a prayer for you and your family, Melissa. 🙏
Amen! Sending prayers!
Retired from Health Care Service Corporation
1wHi, Melissa. You and I worked together before I retired in 2013, but you may not know/remember that I underwent a kidney transplant in 2011. Having been a Type 1 diabetic since 1965, the transplant did not come as a huge surprise. I ended up receiving from many the kind of care you’re talking about. Most importantly, the brother whose kidney I now carry with me day in and day out demonstrated an extreme level of care and support. That changed me. It saved my life. It allowed me to heal, to recover, to continue living a pretty much normal life. I am eternally grateful for his sacrifice. And for the healing power of God and many others around me.
