Feedback is a gift! I am a fan of embracing the mindset that constructive criticism is critiquing with the intention of building on something good. And as my friend Dr. Nicole Whitehead, Ed.D, MBA, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CDE says, if feedback is handed to you on a stinky garbage can lid, resist the urge to snap back. Check out my insights and more in this Lessons in Leaderships playlist with Carrie Phillips, Ed.D. on the Enrollify Network! https://lnkd.in/eZDW6eMC

This week, I was coaching a raising leader on my team on giving hard feedback. It's a skill many leaders struggle with, fearing it might strain relationships. But here is the truth: avoiding tough conversations hinders growth. We explored how honest, empathetic feedback shows real investment in your team's development. It's not about criticism—it's about unlocking potential and building trust. Leaders, these challenging conversations are your most powerful tool. Do not shy away from them. Your team's growth depends on your courage to be honest. How do you approach giving hard feedback? #LeadershipSkills #EffectiveFeedback #TeamDevelopment https://lnkd.in/e_4xY7me

“I’m giving you these comments because I have very high expectations of you and I’m confident that you can reach them.” This is one of Adam Grant's suggestions for framing tricky feedback. Hands up who doesn't look forward to giving tough feedback?! It definitely can be hard, and probably shouldn't ever be described as 'enjoyable'! However, there are absolutely ways to ensure that delivering feedback is less daunting, more simple... and even rewarding. Our next virtual training session takes place next Wednesday 13th March and is on 'Giving Feedback Effectively'. Whether you are a leader, emerging leader or indiviudal contributor - this session will give you some practical tips for you to take into your next feedback situation. This session is at no additional charge for all our regular clients (free registration code will be sent to you by email today) and for any other participants who would like to join, register via our website at the following link - https://lnkd.in/gUUnkpvr See you there! #virtualtraining #outsourcedhr #givingfeedback #effectiveleadership #leadershipdevelopment #traininganddevelopment People Design HR

𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? The cost of poor conversation ‘I disagree!’ he barked. And he said it before the other person had even finished her sentence. Way too often, it’s about winning a debate, not crafting higher value. Do we really lose so much if we examine another viewpoint? Do we become less or diminished in some way? In the shortlist of leadership superpowers, there’s active listening. Just because we have two ears it doesn’t mean we know how to listen! Yet, it is a common Leadership Blindspot. Like any other skill, you have to practise it. Get feedback. Make changes. Practice again. Today, ask three people about your listening skills.

Why does he need so much information to make a decision? Why is she so resistant to new ideas and change? Why do I get so annoyed when he walks into my office? Let's just face it. People are different. Guess what? You are too and that is okay. To improve your communication, reduce interpersonal conflict, ,maximize your team member's strengths, and improve the workplace environment you cannot use the same tool for everyone. Reach out to me to set up a DISC Behavioral Analysis, Individual 1-on-1 Debrief for each of our team members, and a team training session. Your team is talented. You just need to identify the correct tool to use when you interact with them. #DISC #Leadership #strentghsmatter #communication
