As the holiday season wraps us in its warm embrace, it’s the perfect time for authors to sprinkle a bit of magic into the world. 🎁✨ How? By transforming the traditional book giveaway into a heartfelt act of giving back. Here are three creative ways to do just that: 📚 One for You, One for the World: Host a giveaway where for every book won, another is donated to a library or charity of the winner's choice. It’s a win-win that spreads joy far and wide, doubling the smiles with each turn of the page. 🎄 Nominate a Cause: Encourage participants to nominate their favorite organizations when entering your giveaway. Select a winner and donate a set of your books in their name. It’s a beautiful way to honor your readers and support causes close to their hearts. ❤️ Books as Bridges: Create a campaign where your readers can purchase a book at a discounted rate, and in turn, you'll donate a matching copy to an organization that aligns with the themes of your writing. It’s a way to build bridges between your stories and the lives they touch. This season, let’s reimagine the spirit of giving. It's not just about the stories we share but about the communities we nurture and the lives we enrich. As an author, your words can be gifts that keep on giving long after the holidays have passed. #Marketing #Leadership #Author #Publishing #ThoughtLeadership

How much should your nonprofit be paying annually for your website? Today's post is all about helping you find that answer. We get asked this question all the time. And it's a tough one to answer succinctly. That's why Allyson Lough spent almost 30 hours researching and writing the post that hit our blog today. (Link in the comments below.) In it, you'll find: + The 9 most common items to budget for on an ongoing basis + Why each of those matters to your website + How much each of those should cost annually + Questions to ask your website partner to get aligned on expectations Hopefully this helps you budget more effectively (and ensure you aren't overpaying anywhere along the way). Have questions? I'm happy to answer 'em! (Also please disregard the bags under my eyes in this clip. We have a sick kiddo who isn't sleeping much these days 😴 ) #nonprofits #WebDesign #NonprofitMarketing #WebsiteTips

I get this question a billion times a day... Why don't my donors respond to my requests for conversations/meet-ups/coffee? Here are the top reasons: 1) We're all busy and asking for my donor's time (which is already in short supply) causes them more stress. 2) The donor has been burned before by "drive-by" solicitations so when they're asked for coffee they think it's an undercover ask. 3) They don't see the value add FOR THEM. When I'm asked for something or I think about buying or donating, I'm subconsciously asking "what's in it for me?" Sorry if that pierces your Disney view of the world, but we're hard-wired to survive. So what do to instead? 1) Be specific about the amount of time you're asking for (17 minutes is a good start) and STICK TO IT. 2) Be transparent about WHY you're reaching out and whether or not there will be a solicitation (or not). 3) Tell me what's in it for me? Maybe it's that I feel like I can call myself a helper, maybe I get a free mug, maybe it's the pleasure of your company...you have to spell it out. Fundraisers, does this resonate with you? Tell me your favorite strategies for starting the conversation #getthatmoneyhoney

Want to know one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving? It's seeing people not just think about those in need, but actually take action to help. Donating to food drives. Volunteering to give back. Giving what they can to help others who may be struggling with hunger, their health or their finances. Making a difference isn't always about big gestures. It's also about lots of small contributions that together move the needle. So, remember, even if you don't feel like you have a lot to give, YOU CAN HELP. Your time. Your talent. Whatever financial contribution you can make. It may mean the world to someone else. 🧡 If you're looking for nonprofits to support, please consider these fantastic organizations that I have the privilege of working with: -BOOST by HINGE -Valley Forge Educational Services -Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Happy #Thanksgiving to all! #grateful #givingback

Happiness. Giving. Did you know that your happiness can be altered simply by how much you give? Giving is easy: Smiling at someone. Donating. Volunteering. Writing a letter. Saying thank you. Anxiety and depression can be altered by these simple gestures. Which brings me to today. I saw a post asking for help, I immediately helped. No hesitation. I didn't do so beyond seeing someone who needs help. I can help, it makes me happy to help. Sadly, most people just scrolled past or gave a hollow 👍. When you see someone in need, which here is quite frequent, think about how you can help them. It will make you happier. A Lesson in Slowing Down and Giving Back I often give to charity as much as I can, but I've never talked about it. To me, it's a normal part of life, and I don't seek praise for it. However, something happened yesterday that I felt compelled to share. I recently came across a YouTube video where the creator challenged his viewers to do one thing you never do, every day. Inspired by this, I decided to take action. On my way to the subway, I noticed a person selling magazines near the station. Normally, I would pass by without a second thought, often in a rush or opting not to buy paper magazines to stay green. But this time, I stopped, turned around, and bought the magazine. To my surprise, the magazine was filled with interesting topics. What stood out the most was the story on the first page about the organization behind it, dedicated to helping people get back on their feet. This experience reminded me of the importance of not overlooking people and opportunities around us. Sometimes, all it takes is a moment to slow down and extend a helping hand, and in return, we might discover something valuable. I'll definitely be buying this magazine more often and encourage others to take a moment to help those around them. You never know what interesting stories and lessons you might find. Let's take the time to slow down and make a difference. 🌍💙 https://novyprostor.cz/ #Charity #GivingBack #CommunitySupport #NewExperiences #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness

Want a prospective donor to give? Explain how their gift will solve a problem.👇 🤝 PERSONALIZATION - Get to know them. Have multiple conversations. Express your org’s goals. What urgent problem needs to be solved? How can they be your partner in helping the community? ✍ WRITE - Find out how they prefer to receive communication - email, newsletter, posts, DMs. Create compelling content and send it to them personally. Ask them to share it and become an advocate. 🤗 VOLUNTEER - Invite them to a volunteer event. Make sure you know beforehand what tasks they are interested in performing. Ask them to bring their friends. Involving familiar faces will enhance their experience (and broaden your prospect list). Giving should not feel transactional. People need to be invested mentally and emotionally before they commit financially. #consulting #nonprofitconsulting #nonprofitconsultant #nonprofit #nonprofitfundraising #fundraising #communications #philanthropy #dyk #womanownedbusiness #businessowner #drummerconsulting

In my 2024 rightsizing workbook entitled "A Year of Letting Go," I assign one room to each month of the year. This helps readers make real progress by capturing the power of FOCUS. May's prompt is to focus the entire month on rightsizing the items in the dining room and living room. Look through every drawer, cupboard, closet and cabinet in those two rooms and critically evaluate whether you use, need or love each item. The items that don't make the cut should be moved OUT of your home by the end of May! Sell, donate, give or toss the items before the month is out. If you stick to this schedule, you'll see real progress in your home. To get your copy of "A Year of Letting Go," visit Amazon here: https://lnkd.in/g_DZQX6G
