Today, we have announced the Octopus Kubernetes Agent - a new solution that aims to make Kubernetes Continuous Delivery (CD) more efficient and secure, especially when it comes to deploying containerized applications. With the increasing adoption of containers, deploying new apps as containers is now becoming a standard practice. However, not every developer is familiar with the tools and processes involved in containerization and deploying applications using Kubernetes. That's why we are introducing this new feature to help DevOps and Platform Engineers connect deployments to clusters in a secure, efficient way. Applications teams will be able to focus on getting changes into production faster, without needing to spend a lot of time and effort learning and debugging complex sets of tools. Can you imagine changing the tires of a moving vehicle? Impossible you say? Well, this is expected in DevOps - deploying a version 2 while users are still live on version 1 and gradually connecting to v2 seamlessly. That is how I would describe zero-downtime deployment. I learnt the need to use the native integrations for deployment which may take some time, but it's better handled.
