About 8 months ago, I shared a midway milestone that I had completed half of my CPA journey. I am proud to announce that I am officially 3/4 of the way done with only one more exam to go! My reason for posting isn't for accolades, but in hopes that it touches someone reading it and encourages them in the space that truly, despite your circumstances, you CAN do it. For a recap: Exam 1: REG - had a friend pass away 4 days before my exam. Exam 2: FAR - had unanticipated move in the middle of studying, creating a 4 month gap in my study structure and having to pick it back up during fall busy season. This was right before the exam structure change, I could not reschedule. Exam 3: TCP - had unexpected minor health issue, a 3 day hospital stay, and 3 staggered surgeries which postponed me starting to study. I was also up against the July 31 cut off date in order to stay on track and complete all 4 parts before June 2025 (comfortably). So it could not be rescheduled. I passed all 3 exams on my first attempt. I am not saying it is easy, but that it is possible. The posts and encouragements sprinkled in your LinkedIn feed saying "keep at it and study consistently and it will pay off", are 100% true. What we often see when someone posts the momentous milestone of completing the CPA journey is success, achievement, completion. What people don't often boast about (or what most people overlook) is the discipline it takes, the hard work and long hours, the struggle and sacrifice, that life doesn't stop just to study, but how all of that combined with courage and dedication, WILL pay off! So here's to ONE MORE and finally becoming a CPA! 🎉

Just reached a milestone - Officially a CPA👩🏻💼 ‘Life is a never-ending process of growth and learning.’ Now that 3 years have passed, I am proud to share with you all that I have nailed it and officially become a CPA. Taking professional examinations while working full-time is indeed not an easy thing. It is even more difficult for people like me who always aim for the best results. I still remember the time when I finished my first exam, thinking if I needed to retake in the following semester. It turned out that I scored distinction and I started to believe that it is not how good you are, it is how good you want to be. During the journey to become a CPA, not only does it enhance my professional knowledge on accounting-related matters and ethics, but also it teaches me the importance of time management. Sometimes, having to work full-time is an issue, especially when there are unexpected changes or deadlines at work. It gave me a chance to balance work, life and study. Nothing is impossible, always have faith and go for your dreams. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my parents, family and friends for giving me huge support along the way. Without you all, I would not have passed all the 6 exams with flying colours. As I said, life is a never-ending process of growth and learning, after celebrating this milestone, it is time to go ahead with my next adventure. Hopefully by this time next year, I will come back and share that I am officially part of the CMA community. #CPAAustralia

Want to finish your exams at a pace that works for you? 👨🎓 I hear often of ACA/ACCA students going through their exams at a pace that is uncomfortable and rushed. Today, myself and Curtis Weston met with an Audit Partner who had a refreshing outlook on exams and developing their staff. The end goal is to qualify, we all know that but the journey itself is just as important so being with a practice that listens to your needs is crucial. This particular practice time to sit down with you and the education provider to roadmap out the dates you would like to sit your exams and figure out the best timeline for you. Secondly, if you do happen to fail the exam it's not the end of the world - they're not going to walk you out the door. They'll work with you to figure out how they can support you better, and ultimately you can decide when to resit. They've seen a super high retention rate, and surge in promotions and have doubled their revenue as a practice within the last few years. Big things are happening here so you don't want to miss out on being a part of something great! Achieving USCPA Success: Key Insights for Aspiring Accountants. Navigating the path to becoming a USCPA can be challenging, but understanding a few key aspects can make all the difference. Here’s what you need to know: Passing Rates & Exam Challenges: While the overall passing ratio for each section of the USCPA exam is around 50%, remember that passing all four sections in one go is significantly tougher, with success rates below 20%. As you age, the odds may decrease further. Plus, each exam incurs additional international testing fees, so plan accordingly. Focus on the Last 25: Scoring 75+ is crucial, but it's often the last 25 points that make or break the deal. Many candidates excel at the initial 50% of their preparation, but only those who push through to excel in the remaining 25% will truly succeed. Shortly after leaving the ICAN exam centre on 17th November 2022, I crafted this testimony about the success of my exams. You know what they say about sharing testimonies before seeing the manifestation. I quickly looked away before VAR will start an assignment on my well-deserved goal. But I know it's a matter of time, I will talk about the goodness of God. I am shamelessly rejoicing because my mate qualified more than a decade ago, some of them also learnt from me and ate from the wisdom of my classes (Tutorials) So this time, I chose to read and attend classes to pass ICAN exams. My plan was working till the final stage. I failed CR (Corporate reporting) three times and I was bitter. Syllabus was changed and Case study was added to my outstanding paper. It quenched my fire, it bottled my ego, and questioned my ability. Failure and rejection are something I detest. I could not hide my disappointment then I left the exam for almost 10 years. During the break, I passed three other exams and got certified. I did so well that I strongly felt ICAN needed to see me again. I was contemplating on a return to ICAN when an opportunity beckoned. It was a role as Head, Internal Control in an Oil and Gas space. A multiple layer of pay raise and opportunity to venture into a new industry. From initial 13 candidates, I made it to the final stage, and met the MD. Two people actually met the MD, myself and another. But the other was taken because I did not have ICAN. The anger fueled my passion to return to this ICAN certification, then I enrolled in a tuition house. Inducted by May 2023 and qualified after a long journey. I have a wing to fly, to think without boundaries and to support businesses as Auditor, Accountant, Financial Analysts, Compliance, Risk Analysts and above all Financial reporter.
