I always appreciate the opportunity to participate in Tim Starks #cybersecurity surveys. The question this time on banning #ransomware payments is a particularly challenging one. We know from the fragmented data available that incidents are up and #payments are down. We also know that state of cyber #resiliency across the domestic ecosystem is still sub-optimal, setting aside the state of our allied and partner governments and their economies. For these and other reasons, I don't support payment bans at this time. Payment bans are an essential tool for governments, and in this case they will be most effective when coupled with a range of other government-back interventions. In other words, we need a pathway to banning payments. I look forward to discussing and advancing this suite of actions, together with private sector technology-based improvements, in 2024. https://lnkd.in/exQkFKBW
