What a pleasure and honor it was to be invited by my alma mater, Carnegie Mellon University, to be the speaker at their recent Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Association event in New York. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and to our vibrant moderator, Joanna Lovering, MA, President of the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association Board, for facilitating such a rich and engaging conversation. My time at CMU was nothing short of transformative, and I owe so much of who I am today to that campus and its incredible community. The drive for excellence and deep love of learning that CMU instilled in me is something I carry with me every day. Forever grateful to be a Tartan! #GoTartans #CarnegieMellonUniversity

𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲!! I know that for many people, attending Carnegie Mellon University is a dream—and it doesn’t have to stay a dream. If I could achieve this, I believe you can too, and I’d love to help you achieve it! Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), consistently ranked among the top institutions globally and renowned for innovation, interdisciplinary research, and cutting-edge resources, is one of the most competitive schools for engineering and technology. I applied twice—once for my MS and again for my PhD—and was fortunate to be accepted both times. This journey taught me that persistence, a strong personal story, and authenticity matter more than you might think. My path to CMU wasn’t traditional. My GRE score of 300 was below the typical average. Coming from an average college in India, my profile didn’t fit the “perfect” mould often associated with CMU admits. But I focused on what made me unique: resilience, perspective, and meaningful research experience. CMU values applicants who bring more than just test scores. I used the essays and interviews to tell my story authentically, linking my experiences to CMU’s drive for innovation and real-world impact. Instead of simply listing achievements, I highlighted my determination and my vision for making a difference. Now, I’d love to help you craft your story! If Carnegie Mellon is your dream, let’s work together to make it your reality! Feel free to connect with me—I’d be happy to share insights that can help you shine. #CarnegieMellonUniversity #Research #MSAdmissions #PhDAdmissions #CMU #StudyAbroad #EducationConsultancy #GlobalEducation #ApplicationAdvice #HigherEducation #GradStudies

🌟 Why aren't Stanford and MIT Considered Ivy League Schools? 🌟 High school students often wonder why prestigious universities like Stanford and MIT aren't part of the Ivy League. While the Ivy League consists of eight historically significant institutions on the East Coast, Stanford and MIT have carved out their own esteemed reputations on the West Coast. 🌍 💡 Stanford University boasts world-class research opportunities and a strong entrepreneurial spirit , while MIT is renowned for its cutting-edge technology and innovation. Both universities offer top-tier academics and resources that rival those of Ivy League schools. 🎓 So, why aren't they considered Ivy League? The term "Ivy League" originally referred to an athletic conference , and over time, it became associated with a specific group of colleges in the Northeast. However, Stanford and MIT have solidified their status as elite institutions in their own right, standing out for their unique strengths and contributions to academia. 🚀 High school students seeking exceptional academic experiences and research opportunities should consider exploring programs at Stanford and MIT, where innovation and excellence are at the forefront. If you're passionate about making a difference and pushing the boundaries of knowledge, consider applying to research programs at these outstanding universities to propel your academic journey to new heights. #Stanford #MIT #IvyLeague #ResearchOpportunities #AcademicExcellence #HighSchoolStudents #Innovation #Education #LinkedInLearning #Education #Colleges #CollegeAdmissions

The secret is to start.... 1 step at a time. A simple tip but the ACTION can be daunting. Last year I took that 1 step, applied and enrolled at Capella University in their doctoral program. I feel ecstatic to celebrate reaching a halfway point. That first step is hard and then the next one - BUT Keep going. Apply, Enroll, Learn, Try Out, just do it!! #gradschool #neverstoplearning #becomingdrDwayne #transformation

As we count down to graduation, take a moment to meet @CornellNolanSchool’s Elizabeth Barrett ‘24 🎓 Q: What will you always remember about your time at Cornell? A: I will always remember how Cornell made me feel like I was capable of achieving anything. Coming from a very small town and an even smaller high school, I had so much imposter syndrome arriving at an Ivy League school. Yet, my peers, my Professors, and everyone I met along the way showed me the inherent value I brought to Cornell’s campus, empowering me to effect meaningful change in my community and make a real difference in the lives of others. Q: What is the most valuable thing you learned in your time at Cornell? A: The most valuable lesson I have learned throughout my time at Cornell is the importance of empathy towards others. Cornell is a world-renowned institution with amazing educational opportunities, but alongside these opportunities, there is a backdrop of stress and insecurities. Our campus went through a lot of changes throughout my four years, and while it is easy to quickly place blame when someone lets you down academically or personally, we must recognize how these changes can impact everyone differently. Cornell has taught me how to see things from another’s point of view in the face of disappointment, placing patience and understanding toward others above my own academic achievement. Q: How will you use this lesson or knowledge in the future? A: As I transition to the fast-paced life of working on Wall Street after graduation, I am confident I will continue to lead with empathy. I am mindful to remember my Hotelie roots and not let the high-pressure environment of any workplace stifle my awareness of how my actions may impact others. There is a lot we cannot control in life, but how we make others feel is certainly within our own influence. 📸 Photo provided by Elizabeth Barrett
