To Nominate or Not To Nominate, that is the question! Recently, I nominated a respected professional in my field for an award. While they didn't win, it started me thinking about the etiquette of award nominations, especially across organisational boundaries. So I wanted to ask your opinions on whether we should nominate, and as importantly should we inform people when we nominate them, particularly if they don't win. It's a relatively easy decision to nominate- because there appears to be no risk until there is an outcome we haven't considered. The positives are obvious- it's a form of recognition, that could strengthen professional relationships and shows their work is valued. The negatives are that it might lead to disappointment if they don't win, and there's potential pressure to reciprocate. Taking into account the positives and negatives, my thoughts are: -Consider your relationship and industry norms. -Focus on why you nominated them, emphasising their impact. -Make it clear there's no expectation of reciprocation. -Use it as an opportunity to express genuine appreciation for their contributions to the field and their colleagues. In this case, I chose to nominate not just for professional excellence but for the selfless way this individual supports others in the field, including myself. It was such an honour to be invited by Kim Hamrosi from Corporate Mental Health Alliance Australia (CMHAA) to present views on The Leadership System at the 2024 Annual Gathering held at Bunnings in March. Leaders can't give what they don't have - yet the systems that drive leader wellbeing are frequently neglected. In surveys completed by Kate Connors during Elemental CP leadership system presentations and keynotes, 69% of respondents strongly disagree or disagree that their organisations' leadership system is delivering high quality leadership outcomes, with 25% neutral. And 73% strongly disagree or disagree that leaders in their organisation have reasonable time available to perform their leadership responsibilities, and 21% neutral. It is time organisations design their leadership system to enable leaders to be who we need them to be, and who they want to be.... Leaders can't give what they don't have.

It was a pleasure meeting YBhg Dato’ Sri Dr. Haji Irmohizam Ibrahim, JP during the second mentoring session under the #WomenLeadershipFoundation Program. Some key takeaways were: a) Importance of Lifelong Learning - continuous learning is essential in today's fast-paced world to stay relevant, adapt to new technologies and trends, and develop new skills for career advancement and personal development. Dato Sri also shared valuable experience on how he managed challenges in rebranding #PWTC post-COVID. 1. Managing Talent - Ensured his team are placed in roles that align with their strengths and skills. 2. Strategic Planning - Well-thought-out strategies that help navigate challenges effectively and improve brand. 3. Measurable Execution Plan - Having clear, measurable objectives ensures progress tracking and successful outcomes. Feeling blessed with the opportunity to be mentored by him, who has positioned PWTC at the international level.
