Across Africa, millions lack access to quality healthcare, despite the continent's growing mobile phone usage. This digital divide though can be bridged by harnessing the power of digital solutions. In my latest article, "Harnessing Digital Solutions to Revolutionize Healthcare and Business Success in Africa," I explore how telemedicine is enabling remote consultations, electronic medical records are improving care coordination, and mobile health apps are empowering patients with chronic diseases. While infrastructure limitations and internet access gaps exist, increased investment in mobile technology and collaborations between public and private sectors are paving the way for a more accessible and efficient healthcare system across Africa. Join me in exploring the potential of digital healthcare and how it can benefit both businesses and communities. #DigitalHealth #Africa #HealthcareInnovation https://lnkd.in/dZesJgxz Thank you Oluwafemi Mayowa Olusola (BA, MA in English Language, CIE in Eng) for the feature.

🩺While digital connectivity can greatly enhance #healthcare delivery, especially in regions lacking traditional medical facilities, the overall impact of this increased access to information remains a topic of ongoing evaluation and debate. ⭐This column examines the effect of internet access on #COVID-19 spread in #Indonesia, a developing country characterised by considerable variations in both mobile internet access and COVID-19 cases at the local level. 👉It finds that access to 3G broadband internet reduced cases by approximately 45%, a relatively large impact compared to the effectiveness of other non-pharmaceutical interventions. 📖Areas with higher literacy rates and a greater ability to telework experienced even more pronounced benefits. On Monday New Zealand’s new National Health Targets focusing on five priority areas - access, timeliness, quality, workforce and infrastructure - came into effect. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora will report progress on the targets quarterly, seeking to improve access to #cancer treatment and shorten wait times in emergency departments. It is great to see the New Zealand Government setting clear health targets with the vision of achieving better health outcomes for New Zealanders and better work environments for the #healthcare workforce. Technology will be crucial to unlocking opportunities under the five priority areas. GE HealthCare’s Reimagining Better Healthcare research report, released last year, found that in New Zealand there is a lack of access to medical technology that enhances clinician confidence, and that less than half of New Zealand clinicians feel that #AI medical technology is ready for medical use, compared to 58 percent of all clinicians in other countries surveyed. GE HealthCare believes that better patient and clinician outcomes can be achieved through engaging digital #innovation. Increased investment into digital infrastructure and #medtech can greatly alleviate the pressure on New Zealand’s healthcare sector and lead to more precise, connected and compassionate care, and better outcomes for patients and clinicians. #GEHealthCare

⚠️Are you conducting research on telehealth?⚠️ In recent years, countries have seen a rapid citizen-led proliferation of #digitalsolutions being used for remote working, socialisation between family, friends and communities, and education, to name but a few. This rapid pace of change has been mirrored by national and local government and public health through the use of social media and other communication channels to effectively reach individuals and communities for information sharing purpose, but also to better understand the future needs of health and care systems. One of the Nine Pillar of Integrated Care for the 25th International Conference on Integrated Care #ICIC25 calls for papers focused on Digital Solutions. The landscape of clinical research is evolving, and telemedicine is playing an important role in this transformation. Here's how: 🟢 Increased Accessibility: Telemedicine allows geographically dispersed participants to easily access clinical trials, expanding inclusivity and diversity. 🔵 Enhanced Convenience: Virtual consultations and remote monitoring reduce travel burdens and improve participant experience, potentially leading to higher retention rates. 🟠 Real-World Data: Telemedicine allows for continuous data collection in participants' natural environments, offering valuable insights into the real-world effectiveness of treatments. While ethical considerations and potential technological barriers remain, telemedicine holds immense possibilities for streamlining clinical research, ultimately accelerating the development of life-saving therapies. #telemedicine #clinicalresearch #drugdevelopment #healthcareinnovation #clinicaltrials

"Telemedicine has the potential to be a transformative solution for ensuring the continuity of consultations in remote areas. However, the lack of tech-savviness among the population poses a challenge. Raising awareness about telemedicine within these communities can lead to significant improvements. Digital literacy will be crucial in this process, along with access to devices and user-friendly language platforms, which can help maximize the benefits of telemedicine." - Sishir Rao, MD, Co-founder & Managing Trustee, Indian Heart Association the ET Now Indian Cardiac Care Innovation Summit 2024 presented by Meril, in association with the Indian Heart Association. Medical rehabilitation is a process that helps individuals recover from injuries, surgeries, illnesses, or chronic conditions. 🥼 This process involves a wide range of treatment and recovery methods, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, specialized training, and psychological support. 🥼 The primary goal of medical rehabilitation is to improve the patient's quality of life, aid in restoring functionality, or adapt to new life conditions following changes resulting from illness or injury. 🥼 Rehabilitation may also include the use of medical devices, teaching self-care skills, and involving the patient's family for better understanding and support throughout the recovery process. 🥼 An important aspect of rehabilitation is an individualized approach based on the specific needs of each patient, their health status, physical capabilities, and personal goals. #: Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS) USAID This project was made possible by the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Sustainable Health Systems Development Project grant.
