As I watched my seven granddaughters use their phones, I noticed each had a unique and individual user experience. They were interested in different applications, used different apps for varying lengths of time, and used them with varying levels of quality. Just as we are all unique individuals, our interactions with the media are also unique. Our inclinations, interests, goals, values, and motives influence how we engage with media. This is especially true for children, who tend to be more radical in their use due to their natural drive to experiment, learn, and be passionate. It is crucial to let kids explore their intrinsic interests, values, and goals. Instead of worrying about the future, we should focus on nurturing their creativity and providing them with opportunities to learn and grow. By doing so, we can help them develop a sense of purpose and intrinsic motivation that will serve them well in the long run.

At the MYOB conference, Tim Thompson noticed that most of the topics were about the bottom line and profitability, so he pivoted to talk about the importance of creativity. Not only was his awareness and ability to pivot impressive, his presentation was excellent! By connecting problem solving and data to creative thinking Tim totally nailed it for his audience - a group of creatives who already had to talk a lot about math. I will be encouraging our agency to use his approach to account reviews, which is to reference real-time profitability data while answering these three questions: - how is the relationship? - how is the creativity? - how is the profitability? It’s all too common to discuss these three success metrics in silos without the data on the screen. 14/10, I could gush about Tim for ages. I’m super tempted to go become best friends with grandma in Arvada so I can try and score an invite to next year’s Halloween. #myob

People we don't know have become members...that's pretty cool to us. 3. Creating ongoing value is challenging. 4. Planning Week Reflections – Make A Difference, Oct 2024 Last week, we wrapped up our planning week at the office, setting goals for the next 6 months. Mannat Anand aligned us with MAD’s vision of impacting 37,000 children by 2026-27, with 7,000 children in focus for this year. Some highlights: - Celebration Circle: We kicked off by sharing our stories from the last quarter, reflecting on wins, proud moments, and challenges overcome. The framework helped us appreciate both successes and breakthroughs that arose from difficult - Arhan Bezbora’s Art of Problem Framing: This session was a revelation. Instead of jumping straight into problem-solving, Arhan emphasized the importance of understanding users’ pain points and reframing the problem with a “How might we...?” approach. This shift in perspective made me realize how impactful it can be to slow down, empathize, and frame the right question before rushing to solutions. - Rahul Gupta’s M&E Workshop: The session on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) was invaluable. It underlined the importance of tracking progress effectively and using data to fine-tune our strategies. - Akshay Cherian’s Tiny Tests: Akshay’s session was, as always, thought-provoking. What stood out most was his concept of “Chai with ChatGPT”—the idea of using daily conversations with AI to explore new ideas and reflect. It was a reminder to embrace curiosity and stay open to new perspectives. As a community organizer, this week has deepened my understanding of problem-framing, experimentation, and strategic alignment. It’s been a learning experience not just professionally but also personally, as I gained tools to approach challenges with greater clarity and creativity. Moving forward, I am committed to applying these insights within my work—whether it’s by reframing challenges in our communities or experimenting with tiny solutions before scaling them. Most importantly, I will stay connected to the broader vision of MAD, ensuring that my efforts contribute meaningfully to reaching the 7,000 children we aim to impact this year. This planning week has been a reminder that every small action we take today contributes to the larger vision of making a difference—and I am committed to being a part of that movement. #Leadership #Planning #SocialImpact #MakeADifference #Community
