The average cancer patient has no idea what a clinical trial is or how to find one, and frankly how would they. And yet when you talk to the people who make the standard of care for cancer in the country, including NCCN, which is an important governing body in oncology, the message is, clinical trials should be accessible to everybody with cancer. Here’s something SurvivorNet has built that is a pretty extraordinary use of technology - Patient Pathfinder: Clinical Trial Finder - https://lnkd.in/gQeZwF3M to make it a lot easier to find the right clinical trial for you. #ClinicalTrials #DrugDevelopment #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #CancerResearch

This year, I chose to focus on #BreastCancerAwareness from a different angle—the mental health aspect from the patient's perspective. I was deeply moved by the raw emotions and real experiences shared by a dear friend of mine, who has been battling breast cancer over the past year. Her words capture the toll this disease takes far beyond the physical, and they’ve inspired me to shed light on this often-overlooked part of the journey. In my latest post, I also offer some basic coding tips, but the heart of the article is truly centered on the patient experience. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this important conversation. Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be a difficult and stressful experience that can affect not only your physical health but also your emotional well-being. Depression, anxiety, and fear are common among cancer patients, but it's essential to know that help is available and that most mental health conditions can be treated effectively. Unfortunately, many cancer patients are not informed about the possibility of developing mental health issues or do not receive adequate treatment for them. Cancer care teams may lack the necessary skills to recognize and address mental health concerns, and some people in the community may not understand what depression looks like. At Collaborative Cancer Care, we understand the importance of addressing mental health concerns in cancer patients. We are dedicated to revolutionizing mental health care in oncology and supporting those who need it. If you have concerns about your mental health, please don't hesitate to contact us or your healthcare provider for help. Remember, early intervention is always better, and taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. https://lnkd.in/eaF5wygs #collaborativecancercare #MentalHealthAwareness #cancer #oncologymentalhealth

Today was a significant day at J4RVIS. As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Anna Haeger and I shared our experiences as carers for loved ones battling cancer. It wasn’t easy to talk about the ups and downs, but it felt important—almost healing—to open up about the emotional rollercoaster we’ve been through. Our goal was simple: to create a space where our team feels safe to be themselves, even in their most vulnerable moments. Seeing the team’s reaction was a reminder of how powerful vulnerability can be. When we open up, we create deeper connections, and those connections drive real change. We’re committed to continuing to build a workplace where people feel supported—not just professionally, but personally too. And if you’re going through this journey as a carer, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m here as a helping hand and a listening ear. Here are a few tips I’ve learned as a carer: 1. Ask for support: Let friends and family know exactly how you want to be helped. 2. Look after yourself: Take care of your physical and mental health, even if it feels hard or brings guilt—it’s essential. 3. Focus on the next 3 steps: The journey can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into manageable steps can bring comfort and a sense of control. #BreastCancerAwareness #Vulnerability #WeAreJ4RVIS J4RVIS
