🎬 A HAPPY ENDING ▶️ In Reading the Silver Screen by Thomas C. Foster, he suggests that the most effective Hollywood movies are those that distort the viewers sense of what actually happened during the course of the movie. ✅ He relates that, at times, such as in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf seemingly falls into an endless abyss, the ending of that sequence ultimately comes to be shown as his happy “resurrection,” when he is discovered to be alive. 🎥 This moment, which is a “Happy Ending” moment, relies upon the prowess of deception and artful ploy. To be effectively done, it must entice the viewer towards one interpretation, while providing another down the line. 🌟 What other “Happy Ending” moments can you think of that use this technique of deferred understanding, and is there another way to make an effective “Happy Ending” moment?
