As instructional designers, we are a curious bunch who are continually learning and growing. This month, something I’m working on is exploring text-to-voice options with a group of colleagues. We have quarterly innovation days and this time around, we wanted to learn a bit more about AI voice generators. Working in technical training, there are constantly release updates and new software versions, and updating narration can eat up a lot of time. Instantaneously updating an audio track would make us way more efficient. Four of us split up the work and did a deep dive into WellSaid Labs, Amazon Polly, ElevenLabs, Speechify, Murf.Ai, and a few others. We mostly focused on how "human" the voices sounded. The difference in quality between the platforms was kind of surprising. Our next step is to make a formal recommendation and engage in the vendor procurement process. This could be a game-changer for our team! I love that your team specifically sets aside time for innovation. This is a wonderful strategy! What has been your favorite innovation to come from these meetings?
I find ElevenLabs, and WellSaid Labs to top among others. What were your findings?

4moWhich one was your favorite? I found Amazon Polly to be very robotic sounding, but WellSaid Labs was fantastic. I haven’t tried the others yet.
