Last Digital Citizenship class today before next week’s final reflective assessment. We have had some fantastic conversations this semester about what it means to be a good digital citizen, and finished up with a three-part capstone project incorporating social media as a cultural mirror, economic drivers in a digital world, and digital political influence. 🌟 Last friday I was part of workshop on digital presence for PhD students at division of Environmental Technology and Management, Linköping University! 🚀 It was an absolute pleasure engaging with such a enthusiastic group, and we had some truly insightful discussions. One question, in particular, got me pondering: How important is it to be active on social media? In today's digital age, where connectivity is key and information is shared at lightning speed, the significance of social media presence can't be understated. During our discussion, we explored various perspectives: 1. Networking and Collaboration: Being active on social media opens doors to networking opportunities and collaborations with peers, mentors, and experts in your field. It's a powerful platform to connect with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions. 2. Visibility and Reach: Establishing a strong social media presence enhances your visibility within your academic community and beyond. It allows you to showcase your work, share insights, and contribute to relevant conversations, thereby expanding your reach and influence. 3. Knowledge Dissemination: Social media serves as a valuable tool for disseminating your research findings and academic achievements to a wider audience. It enables you to communicate complex ideas in a more accessible and engaging manner, fostering public interest and understanding. However, it's important to acknowledge the potential challenges and pitfalls associated with social media usage, such as maintaining a healthy work-life balance, dealing with online criticism, and safeguarding your privacy. Ultimately, the decision to be active on social media should be guided by your personal and professional goals, as well as your comfort level with the platform. Whether you choose to fully embrace social media or adopt a more selective approach, the key is to be authentic, intentional, and mindful of your digital footprint. 🌍 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: A Personal Perspective As my journey in foreign trade began, I quickly learned how political decisions shape our international landscape. Through further studies, internships, and hands-on experience, I witnessed how a single policy could send ripples across global networks, altering economies and cross-national relationships. Recently, I had the opportunity to engage directly with political leaders as a delegate in Berlin, seeing firsthand how politics and management intersect to influence a country’s stability and role on the world stage. Reflecting on these insights, I’m convinced that tackling today’s complex challenges demands more than individual perspectives. In an interconnected world, collaboration across differences is essential for sustainable progress. I’m convinced that 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. While political parties and organizations often highlight differences, true progress comes through collaboration. In our interconnected world, 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝—𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬—𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥. For me, fostering international relationships, intercultural dialogue, and a sense of shared community represents values like solidarity, mutual respect, and understanding. I’m thankful about shaping this space through active involvement in initiatives like the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, Young Transatlantic Initiative | Junge Transatlantiker and more. Platforms like these enable us to tackle trough conversations, networks and projects that matter.  I invite others to join in this journey of exploration and dialogue, as we work together to protect democratic values, strengthen the economy and create a future where collaboration leads to a more connected and prosperous world. As Thomas Jefferson said, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦. Now more than ever, we need to safeguard these democratic values for a more connected and prosperous future.
